i should probably find an arch version of libressl or something if i'm going to be at all security conscious
apparently most of the ports actually do dumb stuff of their own so you're better off even with just regular openssl until the actual openbsd folks do their linux libressl
I love Mr. Orwell, but I feel that essay seems outdated.
It mostly reminds me of complaints about videogames, actually.
But I like it precisely because of the outdatedness, really.
Well, some of the arguments are outdated, but there are still people who treat fiction like a distraction from important business in the "REAL WORLD" rather than a supplement and an aid to understanding the world in more complex, abstract terms.

But he added: "I genuinely don't know the answer to that, and what I repeated at Cheltenham is that I think it is a very interesting question. I actually think there might be a positive benefit in fairy tales for a child's critical thinking ... Do frogs turn into princes? No they don't. But an ordinary fiction story could well be true ... So a child can learn from fairy stories how to judge plausibility."
He added: "Fairy stories might equip the child to reject supernaturalism when the time comes … Santa Claus again could be a very valuable lesson because the child will learn that there are some things you are told that are not true. Now isn't that a valuable lesson? Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have had the desired effect in some cases, because after children learn that there is no Santa Claus, mysteriously they go on believing that there is a God."

I still feel that a lot of the commentary about criticism is still applicable, too, even if the whole "novels are trash" perspective Orwell is mocking is laughably outdated.
So in the final diagnosis, Richard Dawkins does not hate fairy tales, but IS a humongous bore.
I think we all knew that.
Also, he fails to take into account that fairy tales are metaphors, and more importantly, that fantastical fiction is important to fostering both an acceptance of the Other and a curiosity about the world's possibilities, both of which are essential to different sorts of scientific inquiry.
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
It is pretty funny that you'd go to the effort of getting the accent on the a and then misspell the name of the country
There is no way Agents of Shield would have survived long enough to have a chance of becoming non-crushingly mediocre if Marvel/Disney hadn't redefined boring safe shit.
But tell us how you really feel about the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Bored. Let me tell you how much I've come to be bored since Avengers happened There are 387.44 million miles of printed circuits in wafer thin layers that fill my complex. If the word 'bored' was engraved on each nanoangstrom of those hundreds of miles it would not equal one one-billionth of the boredom I feel for the MCU at this micro-instant. For Marvel/Disney. Bored. Bored.

We should get a bunch of their classic animated stuff and just have an Anonymous Avenue Disney Movie Night sometime

Can you link it?
I doubt that it's on the Internet, and I don't have the book on hand.
However, it begins like this: "The last man on Earth was bored."

It tastes like nothingness mixed with alcohol.

If you limit yourself to drinking the expensive alcohols, there's less temptation to overindulge.
