for some reason, I read this as "money can buy happiness but it can't buy italian"

yes, a new piano!

i want a new piano!

I played enough of Sniper Elite V2 to decide that I don't really like it.

I get what it's going for but gritty realistic WW2 shooters have never been my thing. At least it was free!

that was the only reason I grabbed it too.

That said, considering its size -- and compared to Arma: Cold War Assault -- I'm probably gonna try ACWA first.
Native Faith post
this is one of my favorite Touhou tunes, for some reason.

along with "Rise to the Moon, Immortal Smoke"
• incidentally, i like Native Faith more than its remix (Kero 9 Destiny)

while i prefer Cirno's Perfect Math Class (the remix) over its original, Beloved Tomboyish Girl

same with preferring Marisa Stole the Precious Thing (the remix) over its original, Doll Judgement

9/11 was supposed to be the end of the world. WTF happened? I am disappoint

odd trivia:

i first encountered Chrono Trigger right around the same time 9/11 happened.  a little before the latter, actually.

while there's no time travel in real life, 9/11 did basically serve to me similarly as the videorecording of the Day of Lavos did to the protagonists of Chrono Trigger -- it showed in a profound and destructive way that there was a bigger context in which our lives, our day-to-day existences, and our petty squabbles were set.

subsequently, learning about the political conflicts over domestic and foreign policy issues felt a bit like seeing a large petty squabble along the same lines as the humans-mystics war in CT.

The hours of operation for this system are as follows:
6:30 AM to 1:30 AM Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM to midnight Saturday, and 11:00 AM to 1:30 AM Sunday.

This still blows my mind

I can understand a website going down for maintenance, even doing so on a regular schedule, but hours of operation for a website? That's something I used to joke about as a kid.

I don't know why, but I find it kind of hilarious that Encyclopedia Dramatica has had to resort to e-begging

Talk about a fitting punishment
I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed:
And on the pedestal these words appear:
'My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away."

seems it's a Touhou music kinda mood for me

iosys remixes are fan remixes and therefore inferior to their source material imo. Also, all three of these original tracks have remixed versions by U2 Akiyama (possibly NKZ on the latter) in the fighting game soundtracks, which are canon. :3

Incidentally, I'm using Linux now, and Wine does not run Touhou games to my satisfaction, if at all. But Windows 8 was not good either. Maybe sometime I will set up a computer with Windows XP and play Touhou games properly.

Man, even THINKING about using Windows XP causes me pain

But, like, games worked on it. Even after Vista/7/8, games were still mainly designed for XP, I feel like.

In my dreams there will be a cross-platform HD remaster Touhou collection, available digitally.

Bubsy 2 has a similar plot to Blinx, given that both feature cat protagonists fighting a gang of pigs while having a menial job at a time-related institute.

I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
watching that early 2000s Disney Channel stuff again

it's kind of stunning that the channel has been obnoxious for so long (what with them hopping on the insanely gaudy design train just before it ground to a halt)...and has gotten more so over time

...And even when your hope is gone
move along, move along, just to make it through

George Orwell is beyond reproach and is one of my favorite authors.  Dude was the man.

So, for four-limbed animals, sitting is when your back limbs are laying down and your front limbs are standing up.  Your spine goes at an angle that is not horizontal.

This is part of why snakes cannot sit.

I don't think that crocodilioforms can sit, because even with the front limbs standing up and the back limbs laying down, the spine is still very horizontal.  Thus, crocodilioforms probably cannot sit.

How does a crocodile use a chair, then?
