I really liked the story. It genuinely surprised me a couple of times, in a good way.
Yeah, the plot was surprising in a good way, and the acting was great, but there were other aspects that fell rather flat for me. For one, the soundtrack arrangements were mostly quite boring, which is sort of a drag on a movie with several big musical numbers. Additionally, the design was good, but not amazing, and the songs themselves were almost superfluous a lot of the time. With the exception of maybe three songs tops, they felt completely inessential, which is bad for a movie billed as a musical.

"Half-hour" means about twenty-three to twenty-four minutes each. Together, that's a long movie, but not that long. And it's not like FLCL is short on things to look at or think about.
$20 million, tops. Anything more and I'd have to divest half my fortune right off the bat to stop feeling shitty about myself. And even then, I'd be buying studio equipment and secret lairs left and right...

I've noticed that Centralia-stuff tends to be "Royal" even though it should be "Princely" since we're a principality and not a kingdom
But I seem to be the only one who even notices this
Just don't see myself sitting down to watch something that I already have a strong bias against (even if it's not for the most logical resons).
If somebody drags me into doing it, I'll probably end up checking my phone during "Let it Go" (and not necessarily out of spite), so it'll be better for everyone if I just keep my distance.

I admire the artistic craft behind Disney's films, but can't get into the story behind a lot of them.
That said, there are a couple I want to watch again at some point, like Alice in Wonderland and The Emperor's New Groove.
I still love a lot of Pixar's output, though. Granted, this probably has a lot to do with the fact that I was "of age" as they were being released, but still...
