@ CA: Well, Anna is clumsy. TBH I didn't even register that there was anything weird about them running on ice when I watched it, stupid though that is...
@ Glenn: 'Ey' sounds extremely weird to me, and certainly foreign to my everyday vocabulary.
Like if I were asking about an unknown individual, I might say 'Who are they?' without even considering my words, but I would have to make a deliberate decision to say 'Who is ey?' (and I would feel self-conscious and uncomfortable about doing so, since I think it would be obvious to listeners that I was using words outside of my normal vocabulary, which feels somehow dishonest).
so basically i'm just taking singular 'they' and chopping off the first two letters, so that it still feels natural rather than sounding like an awkward neologism, but nevertheless distinguishes itself from "they" so we can finally have a proper singular gender-neutral pronoun.

@Tachyon: I'm reminding myself of the time I made an IJBM thread calling out Gaston's assertion that Belle's book contained no pictures despite a previous scene having depicted a large, elaborate illustration.
Buttercup told me not to overthink it. I guess I should take her advice; she is the Royal Shannon for a reason, after all...
IJBM: Works that are hard to recommend to people because of how daunting they seem or how hard they are to start.
Like, I just got to Chimera Ant arc in Hunter X Hunter. It is very fun, because it has unique villains, a complex many-layered plot(for a fighting anime) lots of players, and cool fights, as well as a tone that makes you feel like the character are genuinely in danger..
It took 70 odd "good but not great" episodes to get there, and it comes right after the weakest arc.
Or how Jojo's starts off as a somewhat strange Fist Of The North Star ripoff, and doesn't start showing you how the average fight will go until three volumes in, at the beginning of Part 2. And then it doesn't introduce the elements people know about the series until Part 3.
Or Dark Souls, which has a really steep learning curve and does things very differently from other action games. People say that it gets better, but that's not true. It gets better when YOU get better.

I always liked the Greed island arc more than the Chimera ant arc, personally.
I was just like 'OK let's hear this evil voice, you're kind of downplaying my expectations so it's probably not going to be all that great but-' HOW ARE YOU LUCILLE? '................Holy crap.'

Well I am watching the anime.
In the manga, I understand that Chimera Ant arc happened over years and years and included chapters that looked like they were scrawled on napkins by a five year old.

Well, there's that fact too, but I just remember enjoying the Greed Island arc more. Can't really say why I felt that way, mostly because it's been a few years since I last read HxH.

It has the videogamey thing going for it and the dodgeball fight is cool.
I just thought that the training thing took too long, and the main villain wasn't that scary.

Dark Souls is a lot easier to recommend to people who haven't ever played many ARPGs, because it seems much less unintuitive if you don't have that genre's baggage behind you.

it's just, early on it might be easier for people who aren't used to it (such as myself) to accept it if they think of it as a contraction.
there'll be a lot more roam
there'll be a lot more ream

I do admit that my feeling that "ey" sounds natural might be based on my U.S. English pronunciation.
Actually, I think people would think I had a speech impediment, or was feigning one... 'ey' is such an improbable contraction of 'they' otherwise.
not really formal, but if you say it fast enough, you realize that you're omitting the "th" anyway
...or maybe this is just lazy american dialect

I don't like it at all. It sounds ridiculous.
But it does sound a lot more natural in your accent, somehow.
(Is lazy American pronunciation doing something useful for once? le gasp)
also I can't even make out what your first vocaroo is saying
First one was 'who are ey?'
Your voice sounds a lot different from how I imagined it, somehow.
I can imagine you doing voicework in a movie. That's an everyman hero sorta voice.
Puppy.

That was hilarious.

'................Holy crap.'
For serious, it was great.

Portugal is a good starter game if you're looking for one. It's mostly just "ignore the rest of Europe and colonize like mad".
FWIW, the makeup artist and hairstylist did a pretty good job making me look old.
It shall be a Princely Saturday
WOLF EYES IS A GOOD BAND
They can be nobility though. For example, our puppy is a duke.
