On the good side of things Lori says that mom's surgery went well and quickly, they're just basically waiting for her to come up from the anesthetic.
For the curious, she had a rare form of (pediatric? That's what the doctor said) cancer. Thankfully, it was not attached to anything vital, so they were able to just cut it out, though she may have a hard time doing much walking for a while.
I don't think I've ever seen any "criticism" of Attack on Titan that wasn't just insulting its fans and then muttering something nonspecific about character development.
I've seen nine episodes and it's pretty good (the one that shows Mikasa's backstory was legitimately incredible though), but any criticisms I have, I haven't really seen anyone actually voice. Like I said, all the "criticisms" of it are just "LOL YOU GUYS ARE DUMB FOR LIKING THIS because the characters are bad or something".
I think a lot of the gruff came from it running on Toonami.
Frankly I see way more annoying disparagments of AoT than I ever did fanboying over the show. I think the worst it got was when potato jokes were everywhere for like a month.
I see a lot of RWBY stuff cuz I follow Waltzy and that's like her life, but other than that I don't really see much either aside from random anime stuff from Ossan.
I hate that game so much. It's so against the tone of what alice in wonderland and through the looking glass are.
It's one of my favourite games, if that wasn't already obvious.
Yes, it took severe liberties with the source material, but you can tell the people making it were closely familiar with the original books, and they never set out to adapt them. It's based on them, but it's not a direct adaptation and makes no pretence of being one. In any case, the books are firmly embedded in popular culture nowadays and are in the public domain, so I don't see the problem
Besides being a highly entertaining game, the concept of exploring a mental environment which is shaped by the psychology of the explorer appeals to me.
Cynicism doesn't really work as a common thing in mainstream media, because it is, by its very nature, subversive. That said, I think Attack on Titan generally works, tone-wise. It sort of reminds me of Gurren Lagann thematically.
Actually, with regards to the original Alice books (which are some of my favourite books, by the way), the tone is somewhat up for debate, anyway. Some people have found them funny, others have found them charmingly whimsical, and others have found them nightmarish. I can see arguments for all three. The obstinate characters coupled with the distortions of logic is certainly something I find unsettling, a bit like a real bad dream where nothing goes right and no amount of reasoning or effort will sort things out.
When I was a kid, the 'serpent' scene with the bird used to scare me, although it's funny to me now.

I called my mom's friend Lori, who is with her at the hospital, and she says that he hasn't contacted them either.
I'm really worried that that douchebag did something dumb with those kids. He hasn't been right in the head lately from what I understand.

I'm just concerned about my little brothers.

Of course, it's possible she misunderstood, but if that's so then I don't know what was meant. Maybe that other thing.
Anyway, my little brothers showed up safe and sound. Though their dad didn't even stop in to say hi, and we have a pizza on the way. Woohoo.

How strange.
