See, I was thinking that Princess Jeanette would consult with the Royal Witch after she was temporarily paralyzed in a magic accident

You know, to see if she could undo the paralyzing magic
  • Obviously you would need a spellbreaker for that, which a witch is not.

Ah, but who better to tell Her Highness where to find a spellbreaker?
  • I suppose

in any case, I have to split soon.

    Later, Heap.

    “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
Hating yourself is honestly even less worthwhile than hating other people, which is itself only to truly be reserved for total scumbags. You are a pretty decent guy in a shitty situation; ergo, it's not even close to warranted.

    ^^ Well...

    ._.

    Good luck again, Mo...

Maybe I will show something late next Wednesday.

What would people like to watch?

yon assassin: what they call "AAA" games cost a lot to make. like, GTA V cost about $260 million USD to make. compare say Avatar at like $300 million ($237 million officially but i mean, hollywood accounting). and there's no way they're going to sell as many movie tickets as they do games so they make it up with jacked prices.

i mean, it's still stupid, but in a different way.

i mostly play indie games though. five bucks to buy and a lot less, proportionally, to make. who cares about modeling every zit on Shootmeister's face anyway

Dunno. I could show "The Last Man on Earth" or "Rashamon", since both of those were still on youtube, last time I checked.

As an aside, what site are you planning on using? I already have a synchtube/cytube channel that we use for anime nights, so if you want to use that room, I can send you the link really easy.

I found Tron to have a boring climax last time I watched it, but I might give it another chance.
  • ah

i didn't know that AAA games and movie production costs were fairly close

still pretty stupid, considering the fact that AAA games aren't noticeably better (and are oftentimes much worse) than indie games with significantly lower budgets

I was going to find a video through one means or another, and then stream it via some screencapturing software or another. Youtube has some good stuff, but I doubt it has all the obscure anime, shlock horror, forgotten classics, and remake of The Holy Mountain using found footage of dogs that I was interested in streaming.

    Ah, Gotcha.
  • Rashomon is a good movie for streaming.
  • Mainly because it is fun to talk about with other people and it is simultaneously engaging and easy to have on in the background.

AAA games are just... huge. the map in gta v is like 300 miles across. and it's not procedural or anything, i don't think.

all that money is going into art assets (again, zits) for that huge amount of stuff.

so i mean, sort of like trying to write the perfect novel by taking ten thousand pages

that reminds me i have a random volume of In Search of Lost Time on my dresser and i have no clue where it's from and i don't have any of the others in the set

    haha

i lost my copy of volume one of the dream of the red chamber, too

at least that has a sense of humor.

    You know

There have been times when I wanted to buy Electronic Arts

Even though the whole console gaming thing seems to be a sinking ship and EA and its ilk are dinosaurs who aren't adapting (also, EA lacks exploitable IP; video game movies are box office poison, for one thing)

i was thinking about why i like this jacket even though i'm not usually big on biker jackets

i think it's because biker jackets are usually affectatious, but are still ostensibly functional (like 90% of people who own a Schott jacket don't ride a motorcycle, even though Schott literally invented the motorcycle jacket and still caters to a biker clientele), so it kinda ends up giving off this mid-life-crisis-y "LOOK AT ME I'M A WANNABE MARLON BRANDO" vibe

but this one makes no pretense to functionality, which gives it a bit more room to be "fun" if that makes any sense.

I like Tron because of the vintage visuals and the story hardly matters in something like that. :D

I chalk that up to the AAA game developers wanting to take as few risks as possible on their huge investment. So even when the game is competently made, it feels generic because the maker was playing it safe. While your indie games can afford to take wild risks, and some of them pay off big-time.
  • Essentially.

It's also the reason why most bigtime movies and at least half of the pop music charts are virtually indistinguishable on a structural level.
  • For once, or maybe twice, I was in my prime.
And most of the crappy and/or generic indie games just disappear from our collective memories. While the worst AAA titles are guaranteed to linger because of their AAA advertising campaign.

Marvel clearly doesn't want visionaries to produce cinema, they want shift managers for the reel factory.

I would never e-beg I think, but I think that if someone e-begs they probably really really need something that is more important than their dignity (not very many things are worth more than personal dignity, I usually assume).
