Is this article for real?  People in the tech industry actually take Moldbug seriously?

being in a programming language channel and having someone bring up urbit is the worst experience

Yeah, but you're actually, like, a Touhou fan.

I on the other hand just listen to people talk about Touhous all the time and have somehow picked up a bunch of shit.

Thiel and his circle in Silicon Valley may be able to imagine a future that would never occur to other people precisely because they’ve refused to leave that stage of youthful wonder which life forces most human beings to outgrow . . . . He wants to live forever, have the option to escape to outer space or an oceanic city-state, and play chess against a robot that can discuss Tolkien, because these were the fantasies that filled his childhood imagination.
    how grotesquely, exquisitely boring.
    These people are next-level boring.

    Hahaha oh wow

Apparently that Legends of Oz movie was a scam (and a scam connected to über-scammer Kevin Trudeau, no less).

I saw the Cartoon Brew post a few days ago

Century Aurora has been pushing the movie hard...why they bother, I don't know, the thing had flop written all over it.

I'm waiting for it to show up at Redbox so I can see how badly they screwed this up.

[70 hours, 1,600 runs, UFO is hard, Lunatic is hard, I suck, bla bla]

I wonder if I should just do what a sensible person would do and complete a perfect run and then play for score instead of trying to beat something that is way, way too hard for 99.9999% of players.
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
AU: Man, the more layers of this you peel back, the more strange it gets. I'm surprised this hasn't gotten more news coverage.
  • More people have said that and been killed than there are thorium decay products.
oh wait I forgot I hate the idea of a "perfect run" why in the world would I try that just now except to make myself feel good for a dumb reason. *puts self in gimp suit; flogs self* I should play a different game. Or write a bad fan fic.
  • More people have said that and been killed than there are thorium decay products.
I feel impudent when I want to play for score because I am competing with a decade's worth of expertise. That is why I feel like I should score in a game that is unpopular, or new.
  • (*gives miko a large box*)

*tries to make self feel better by reminding self that she has ~83% of a world record in one game, technically*

    :o

    *sits in the box* ^w^

*paints the box and draws on it so it looks like a shiny Miko Train* :o

I kind of miss Homestuck sometimes. There has not been a single update in like 7 months. *le shrug* I suppose it is old by now.

Paradox Space is pretty cool, though.

  • I am to be without steady internet until at least tomorrow (in which case you'll hardly notice), but possibly until friday. So I'll see you guys then!

or at Arby's later today, but y'know.

  • I can't decide if the Moldbug devotees or the Yudkowski devotees are more annoyingly stupid.

Though I suspect there's some crossover.

Though I suspect there's some crossover.
They are gradually converging into the same group.
  • I am at the Arby's.

My ma needs to use my computer so I can't really talk much.

I am going to be starting up an RP though! I'm going to spend the next day or two sketching out some concepts.
  • Basically the Moldbug side is the secular side of their beliefs, while the Yudkowski provides the religion, or so it seems to me.  They won't admit it's religion, but what else can you call the effort to try to accelerate the creation of AI God in the hopes it'll be benign?

TIL Yudkowsky and co. are basically Warforged.

    Yudkowski calls Religion, "insanity".

Oh, how I resent him for that.

Yudkowsky calls "not agreeing on the Multiple World Interpretation of the Copenhagen Experiment" insanity.

Despite many, many physicists not accepting MWI

and Yudkowsky not being a physicist.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
I read some of his quantum physics posts, I remember.

They're an irritating read, because he's fully aware that he's trying to simplify a difficult subject, but rather than admit this, he repeatedly insults the reader and the early 20th century scientific community for not grasping said subject.  I think this is supposed to make it less intimidating, but it just makes him look conceited.
  • My dreams exceed my real life
People who think airy, light, "insight porn", blogposts are a good replacement for actually doing the hard work of reading, researching, and discovering how various fields work are dumb.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
If you're referring to the kinds of posts I think you're referring to, I think they can be a decent read if you're just looking for an informal introduction to a subject to find out what it's about.

Of course Wikipedia can also be used that way, but it's not always particularly accessible.

I said "replacement for" I don't really mean that they can't be useful.

On the way home from work I saw a car with the license plate "I LOVE CP"

I know they didn't mean it the creepy way, but my mind went there >_<

Doesn't that mean fucking another human is worstiality?

I wish I could find that picture I saw online some years ago

It was a post office where one of their machines could read any color of paper but the other one had trouble with dark paper

So they had two mail slots

With the unfortunate labels of "WHITE ONLY" and "COLORED ONLY"
