Heh, another Minnesotan I follow on Tumblr was talking about the storms up there, too.
I'm kinda jealous...the one day I'm home sick and it's perfectly nice out here.
Sick days were just made to have beautiful, wet thunderstorms to be enjoyed through a window, you know?
Ah, okay, I see what they're doing now. Radio stations have been doing something similar for years, where they'll replace parts of songs with either a plug for the station or a shout-out to the station's home city.
It wasn't as obtrusive as it sounds; for example in "I Wanna Be Rich" by Calloway, "my favorite number is 1-2-3" became "Q-94 is the one for me" or something like that. Oh yeah, and they added "Richmond!" to the list of cities Huey Lewis shouts in "The Heart of Rock 'n Roll".
They also refused to play "I Want Your Sex" all the way trough, and bleeped out "sex" in it. The same station also played "People Are Still Having Sex" by La Tour and "I Touch Myself" by the Divinyls unexpurgated. It was weird.

Radio censorship is really weird sometimes.
Like those stations that referred to "Bitch" as "a song by Meredith Brooks" but then played it completely uncensored...

Also, I admit: Helvetica signage made before the widespread availability of digital typesetting always seems a bit less...soulless to me than modern Helvetica signage.
@CA: That's partly FCC. The music is "art" and thus is more 2nd amendment protected than what the DJs say. You can play songs with indecency or profanity after 10pm, but you still cannot read song titles or band names that contain them. This is especially hard if you're doing a punk show.

AU, do you know why that might be?
pre-digital Helvetica seems to look less "perfect"

(I was a local radio DJ for seven years)
That's one of those weird explanations that just kinda shifts the question from "why are radio station managers dumb" to "why is the FCC dumb", you know?

The FCC is dumb because (in its role as a broadcast censor) it is trying to wedge 1950s prudishness into a Constitution that expressly forbids the kind of stuff it's trying to do. So it relies on dubious justifications to distract from the fact that it's wrong, and those dubious justifications interact in truly bizarre ways.
And because government and politics are crude blunt instruments that do stupid stuff all the time. That's where I agree with Libertarians; bureaucracies suck. I just disagree with them on where the suck is worth it.
Verdict on Godzilla: a bit slow, a bit bloated, gets really good in certain parts, much less OORAH HELL YEAH AMERICAN MILITARY than I expected, overall a pretty good movie.
