Did somebody say 2006?
(ok, I'm cheating a bit; it went RTM in '06 but the general availability was January of '07)
Looking at the Tiny Mix Tapes "best" list for 2006, I am struck by how many records that I recognise and have enjoyed but whose release year I did not know or forgot. Boris, Wolf Eyes, Tim Hecker, Califone, Scott frigging Walker...
Yo La Tengo's I Am Not Afraid Of You And I Will Beat Your Ass is really good. So is that Juana Molina record. Return to Cookie Mountain is even better...

I have a weird fondness for the original incarnation of Atari, for some reason
Ugh, AOL time Warner. Buying up everything, even the copyright to Happy Birthday. They're going to buy the earth and rename it Warner. They're going to buy the word, "the" so you have to pay ten cents every time you use that word. I bet they even own news outlets.
So, could you make a list of all the things that have been owned by Warner (at any time) and the things owned by Disney, or stuff?
So, if Warner owned Dc and Disney owns Marvel, what would happen if Warner bought Disney?

They're just "Time Warner" now; AOL became a separate company again in 2009.
"Time" refers to Time Inc, a magazine publisher whose flagship magazine is, naturally, Time.
So, I'd like a list of all the things that have ever been owned by that conglomerate. IF they never split and always kept everything they had, what would be the stuff?
(this would include all the things that AOL owned but got rid of before it joined Warner)

I never understood the "time" part of the name.
It hasn't been called "AOL Time Warner" since 2003, and they spun Warner Music Group off in 2004, as a company traded on the NYSE (it has since been acquired by Access Industries).
"Time" refers to Time Inc., the magazine publisher named for Time magazine. This is also the company that brought HBO into the Time Warner fold, but HBO is now separate from Time Inc. and Time Inc. will be spun off as a publicly-traded company soon.

What do you mean by all the things that (AOL) Time Warner has ever owned? Businesses? Intellectual properties?

Yes, both. Things they had the copyrights to, intellectual properties, businesses, all that.
AOL, Warner, and TIme would be three phylums or something. Netscape would be in AOL, HBO would be in time. And subsidiaries of AOL, Warner, and Time might have their own subsidiaries.
This would count everything that's ever been in it, even if it left or was sold (I guess that would make it an extinct species for this).
also I went to The Lion King live for the second time, but simultaneously took my first visit to The Fabulous Fox Theatre (which does live up to that title to an extent)
Rafiki never fails to amaze in that play, I tell ya what (and Scar was pretty badass too)

The other day I had to ship a long metal shaft to a company called "DIC Tool" and it was all I could do to avoid giggling like a middle schooler in front of a customer
I mean there's not one single part of that you can't make a crude joke out of

Also, Anonus, I'll bet you were the only person who read that post and mentally pronounced "DIC" as "deek".

You know what seems rather short-sighted to me? Naming 480i displays as "standard definition" and 720p and 1080p as "high definition".
Sure, that works fine now, but what about 25 years down the line when they start rolling out an even higher resolution? It's bound to happen, right? They'd have to resort to naming it something like "Ultra High Definition" or "Super High Definition"; meanwhile "Standard Definition" will really mean "obsolete technology that hasn't been used in years"...

Like, layers of division. Like phylum, order, genus, and that. Common ancestry or relationships or stuff. Well, if you clumped it all in.

Like, HBO and TIme would share a genus, maybe; but be different species; and
I saw this play today.

If it's too much work, you don't have to do it. Just if it's fun (not if it's work or a compulsion).
And maybe just list the cool or interesting things.
Ooh, or maybe it could be a tree, with branches!
There were some ladies behind me who loudly chewed gum and talked though.

and take their weapons leaving them dead
Couldn't get a pic because it was too dark tho

On account of you're a dork.
That bit wasn't on the packing slip
