NO really. Leaving in the winter, reappearing in the spring (bringing the rain, thus having power over the rain and the seasons), making sounds like drums and thunder, all that.
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
More people have said that and been killed than there are thorium decay products.
I played Contra for NES just now and got to stage 6 without losing, which surprised me. Then I had to continue and restart the stage. And then again. And then again. And then I ran out. Jesus christ this game.

I take it you're not using The Code.
Of course not. The Code is cheating.
I have almost never played it without The Code, and I regret nothing.
THe Konami code is such an established and traditional cheat, I don't think it really counts as a cheat. I mean, how are you going to beat Contra with only three lives?
But yeah, beating it without the code is really hard.
I don't begrudge someone wanting more lives in a game; considering how many modern games give you infinite lives or have upped the amount of one-up things around levels, or have started you out with more lives or have had checkpoints closer to each other or have two one-ups in a level in such a way that they both are there every life (so you can get them both, die, and then get them both, die, and then get them both, die, and get potentially infinite lives) or have a stage select or action stages and roaming areas (so you choose what level you feel like doing) and especially games that let you leave a level halfway through and go back to the roaming area with all the coins and stuff you picked up; or have autosaves or do that thing where if you take out the cartridge or CD and put it back in (or play a different video game between plays of this certain game) it keep track of your lives instead of resetting it to three; or any game where you can save-quit a level to get to the oaming area and then load that level from where you left off; or have stopped having puzzles like that horrible terrible no good very bad atrocious awful repugnant mean-spirited puppy-kicking edisonian funblocker barrel puzzle from Sonic 3, or let you skip levels, or all that.
Heck, those things are essentially cheat codes. IF it's okay for modern games to have that; it seems relatively weird to get mad at Contra players for using the Konami code to get 30 lives but not to get mad at modern gamers for all those above-mentioned cheat features.
If you're going to get mad at them, get mad at them both.
the literal definition of uncool self entitled nerd who thinks they should get everything they want is 'not admirable, boringly studious and socially inept individual who believes they deserve everything that they desire'
in truth i think using cheat codes kind of takes the fun out of stuff, but if the game is so hard without that you can't actually play it, and all the cheat does is give you more lives, then that seems pretty reasonable

if not, posting your student email on twitter seems rather unwise

hipsters use that word
and all those things are nerd things
I consider cheat codes to be acceptable when the game is just clearly way beyond my skill level. Because really it's just a game who cares
i don't know Anodyne
