That's not true at all, from my experience. Sure, children might not have socioeconomic power or political power, but those are just frills on life. I think, in general, peopel are good and care about one another's feelings.

My brother's participating in a fundraiser yard sale at his school, raising money for a school in Boulder that had sustained flood damage. Which is noble and all I guess but this school is soooo much richer than the one he goes to. Like, every-kid-gets-a-laptop versus library-is-a-few-dirty-shelves. And he adamantly refused to listen when I told him his efforts may be misguided.
