Hmm, without any reasearch, how well do I know those names.
Also, Alyssa is, I think, from Elisabeth, which is a biblical name, and thus probably hebrew. So, in a way, that would hinder me there, as it's actually biblical.
Ryan is, I guessing, probably scottish or irish, given O'Ryan as an irish sounding name, and that syllable-wise Rian could be Ri an. "An" is a lessening thing, like ette or ino. Cnoc into Cnocan. Mountain into hill. Loch into Locan. Lake into tiny lake. And, well, Ri Tuath is king of the tuaths, the tribes. So Ri an = king-erino. Kinglet. Kingypoo. Kingling. Prince? Heir to a king?
O'Ryan would be the son of Ryan.
William is a bastardized Wilhelm, a good germanic name. Will Helm. Helmet of the will, the desire, the conviction, the will. Etymology obvious.
More people have said that and been killed than there are thorium decay products.
I want to go to sleep but I have to wait for my mother to fall asleep if I want to read because it is simply impossible to read with a sentient Miko's Mother in the same building.

I feel kinda weird watching post-revival Nostalgia Critic
Because it sucks that Doug was forced to "un-retire" the character and I feel like by watching it I'm contributing to the same sort of attitude that led to that situation to begin with

He seems to be having fun with the character again at least.

True.
And I suppose not watching wouldn't improve things any, so...

I find it amusing how quickly I went from "bleh must you shoehorn your other actors in to every video" to "aww I miss Rachel already"
behindthename.com claims that "Amanda" was invented in the 17th century (a derivative of words meaning "love", hence the "ama" part), and that "Alyssa" derives from the alyssum plant.
Also, when we get to 437549 posts, could you please not post any more posts until I get there? It will be 9999 posts since Aliroz The Confused last posted on this forum.
I want to get that magic "9999 new posts" thing, or maybe even "10000 new posts"
He was immediately arrested by waiting members of the Long Beach Police Department. Regional safety inspector Neal Savoy was reported to have said, "We know he broke some part of the Federal Aviation Act, and as soon as we decide which part it is, some type of charge will be filed. If he had a pilot's license, we'd suspend that. But he doesn't." Walters initially was fined $4,000 for violations under U.S. Federal Aviation Regulations, including operating an aircraft within an airport traffic area "without establishing and maintaining two-way communications with the control tower." Walters appealed, and the fine was reduced to $1,500.[2] A charge of operating a "civil aircraft for which there is not currently in effect an airworthiness certificate" was dropped, as it was not applicable to his class of aircraft.

IJBM: "babe" no longer refers to a baby but instead refers to either a certain pig that starred in a few movies, or to a woman with an implication of sexual interest.
Except in the lyrics of "What Child is This", a Christian song sung to the tune of Greensleeves: "the babe, the son of Mary"
Anyways, this thread is approaching one quarter of a million posts. Could anyone really hope to read all that? Would it be a good record of us who posted here? IF, someday, people who wish to write about this place, historians who are studying our lives, they'll have far more on us than we have on Charlemagne or Shakespeare.
Could someone, then, get an idea of what it was like to be around here right now, in this time? Or to be on this thread in general?
What could they gather of our personalities? This assemblage of people, of different backgrounds and interests, united in stupid posts.
What if the humanists, Erasmus, Moore, and all the couple dozen others, had had a site like this; had had a forum; had had a place where their discussions were recorded. I'm not saying we're the great thinkers of this century, but, well, dang, won't it be cool if someday Imipolex and Odradek were names like Kant and Spinoza; Erasmus and Moore, that someday, after Tre and I are published authors; this record will exist.
And I will look back on it and go, "oh dear gosh, how was I ever so stupid".

Darn it, I used to know more of these.
But, yeah, I'd probably be able to figure it out.

Or, maybe, I could get 10002 new posts, divisible by three.
Or, well, hey, after that, it'd still be five-digits since last posting; and since last posting was actually not that long ago, it'll feel all weird.
In fact, that posting was around February 20th. 10,000 posts in less than forty days.
