    THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
I'm watching a YTP with Phantom Menace footage in it, and I just realised something about the prequels, although I've been suspecting something similar for a while:

They're video game movies. Specifically, it seems like they wrote the N64/PSX tie-in game first, then tried to base a movie around it. The wooden acting, the gratuitous setpieces, the seeming lack of any sort of reason for things to be happening aside from giving you Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan something to fight...it's like they decided the original Resident Evil (the game) was a good model to follow.
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
"You were almost a Amidala sandwich" just doesn't have the same ring to it, though. :P
  • More people have said that and been killed than there are thorium decay products.
    I rarely see action movies (or movies in general) but when I see action movies I do think about how similar they are to blockbuster video games. And, uhhhhh... vice versa. ^_^;
  • For once, or maybe twice, I was in my prime.
That said, in terms of visuals and cinematography Episode I feels more like the original trilogy than Episode II or III did.
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
Yeah. Episode II was a mess....more like a Sci-Fi Original than something Lucas would have spent all that time and money making. Episode III tried its best to have some pathos, but what little sympathy you get for anything that happens is from its connections to the original trilogy.

So, at the end of Issue One of my current story, the main character has been injured by various fights with Mooks and also a Giant Space Flea From Nowhere. He then gets into a fight with the Big Bad (of issue one). My problem is that the main character doesn't have enough health potions to recover enough health to win this last fight. Furthermore, it's absolutely vital for the plot of future Issues that he win this fight, because he gets his Yandere girlfriend as a Random Drop at the end of the fight, completing the Battle Couple. So how should I fix the discrepancy?

The solutions I've thought of so far are:

*Increase the main character's number of starting health potions (but I don't think his family could really afford more, he is impoverished, after all)
*Have him find a Deus Ex Machina Infinity Plus One Sword by random luck (but it'd have to be a one-time-use item or else it'd mess up the battles in future issues!)
*Maybe the main character can keep grinding on random Mooks longer and get more health potions first?

Any help is absolutely appreciated; this story is really close to my heart.

I refuse to understand why you put all those capitalized words in there.

I know there's a reason for it, but I don't want to understand it.

  • guys i am having a shitty time of it and would really appreciate not having to read stupid internet dribble for a while
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch

i think i've had this, last year

i couldn't move, and there was this weird light coming through my curtains, and a whooshing noise

then my room was full of these weird creatures, and then it wasn't my room, and there were bright lights and things zipping about, and i couldn't move or focus on any of them

there was this man right by my bed, this little, ugly man with no hair and a triangular head, and huge, round eyes that were black and shiny.  he definitely wasn't human.  i looked him in the face and he said something in an unfamiliar language, and then he was gone and the room was dark and i could move again

the scary part was that it didn't feel like a dream at all, it looked 3D and realistic and i could remember the whole time quite clearly, and i still can

at the time i honestly thought it was aliens, but i was too scared to say so to anyone... eventually i figured it must have been a weirdly vivid dream

but i bet it was this

we could, Glenn, but when tropers say stupid things like that it's kind of funny

i want to be charitable and say the story in question presumably takes place inside a video game, but the quote doesn't make any indication that this is the case so idk

I don't know about you, but I find it neither funny nor rage-inducing.  Maybe a slight tinge of embarrassment, but that's about it.

i don't know what those are

they were all different shapes, and they were glowing

they reminded me of the drawings in Yume Nikki more than anything else

colorful fantasy monsters from Mexican cultural tradition.  the product of a crazed dream.
  • Seems to be a rather silly story, as people on the internet are wont to make. Nothing to see here.

    they had eyes like those

but they didn't resemble IRL animals at all

omg that copypaste is (SHOCKINGLY) actually funny. It made me giggle.
  • possibly controversial statement:

i could potentially take a lot of things any of you or various other people have said, and pick them apart, and mock them thoroughly.

it's surprisingly easy to mock any amount of text.

no, i'm not going to do it.  but just saying that it's entirely possible for me to take anything i see that i don't like and start mocking it.
  • The sadness will last forever.

I got my yandere girlfriend as a random drop from battling the giant space flea from nowhere. UwU
  • But from where I stand it seems like we're just sort of laughing at someone and it seems really mean spirited. Like, do we know anything about this guy? For all we know he was fourteen when he wrote this.
