Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
Yeah, but there's not much enthusiasm for much of anything here. No OMIGOSH THIS IS THE MOST INCREDIBLE AMAZING THING!
I mean, what if I want to gush about, say, Fullmetal Alchemist, Jasper Fforde's books, Naoki Urasawa's Monster, Gargoyles (disney), Irregular Webcomic, Samurai Jack, Dial H, or stuff.
I mean, it just feels wrong posting stuff like "this song is so great! It makes you grow a beard that grows a beard!" here. Or, "oh. my. Gosh. DId you read Les MIserables, that one part where Combeferre wasw all like "to be free" and Marius was all owned? SUPER SMACKDOWN. Yeah, best. Sentence. Ever."
Anyway, I always gush about things. I think books are pretty cool, and I like metal music and also psychedelia. And I apparently like Metroid games enough to play through them like 29 times. And let us not forget my passion for the feminine mammaries. Is that not enough?
Aaaaanyways, another thing that will totally annoy people here is going all "X nation is so awesome! I like it! So good! Dooog os!", because liking that kind of stuff is uncool.
I'm watching Superman (1978), and I just realised something: Caliborn from Homestuck is the sole survivor of a planet that was once great, but is now dying along with its red sun...and when he leaves his planet, his power increases dramatically.
I mean, if I want to go all "The United States of America is so completely amazing and awesome! Just look at Arizona and southern Utah! Such miraculous, stupendous, mind-boggling landscapes there. Just looking at it makes me feel like going on a grand adventure, running through the red rock hills, climbing sheer cliffs, seeing the Hoodos and the miles and miles and miles and miles of uninhabited desert adventure-land. It's like Australia, but without the sheep. And the redwoods of California, just look at those misty picture of towering titan trees! It looks like it belongs in some sort of fantasy novel or a dream. Or the great skies of the places hundreds of miles from light pollution, an incredible dazzlement of light. Yay America" that would be extremely annoying.
I wonder if I'd celebrate Arpaio's death the same way that some are celebrating Phelps.
I guess I'd be glad that people in Maricopa County don't have to deal with his racist favoritism and ineffective prison management, but the kind of thinking that he fostered would linger long after he's exiled to the Shadow Realm. There's a good chance that he'll be replaced by one of the underlings working under him, trying to find Obama's real birth certificate. I'd prefer that he's chased out of office while he's alive, because that signifies a change in the country. Things might actually get better.
Yeah, but there's not much enthusiasm for much of anything here. No OMIGOSH THIS IS THE MOST INCREDIBLE AMAZING THING!
you don't think so?
Maybe I'm not overtly enthusiastic enough...
There's too much of "the world stinks and I hate it. Everything stinks and I hate it" in my opinion, but, well, a lot of you folks have pretty harsh lives, and, well, have reasons for hating stuff and not being cheerful.
Who am I to be the tone police and tell other people "dude, stop expressing your discontent at the problems in your situation. Stop talking about your problems. Stop expressing your feelings".
I'd love to gush on and on about The King's Shadow, but too few of you have read it and I ain't gonna spoil it. Same with The Search For Delicious, The Book of the Dun Cow, The Westing Game, A Wolf At The Door, The Princess and Curdie, Strawberry Girl, Journey to Terezor, A King's Cutter, Lonely on the Mountain by Louis L'amour, The Princess and the Goblin,The Fairy Rebel, The 21 Balloons, E. Nesbit's The Book of Dragons, Dragonwings, A Single Shard, Mr. Tucket, The Golden Goblet, The Fledgling, and I, Houdini.
I've actually decided to use more of my tumblr to talk about things that matter to me, even though no one's listening (insert lyrics to Power Plant here).
I plan on writing a treatise on the Friendzone as soon as I find a couple of spare hours to think.
You have to understand, the Friendzone is a really important concept to me.
Like, on a list of things that I consider to be important to my sense of being, the Friendzone is pretty high up there. Almost as high as Diversity in Video Games.
Also, The Whipping Boy, Time for Andrew, The Castle in the Attic, The Headless Cupid, The Egypt Game, Figgs and Phantoms, The name of this book is secret, and Be a perfect person in just three days.
I haven't read most of those books in like, forever. They might not be as great as I remember them, but TOO BAD.
Also, a lot of those books were read to me, either by schoolteachers (they did that in elementary school), or by my parents, or I listened to them on tape.

But there's so few people who are interested in both downballot politics AND anime/manga.

Or quoting songs, people here hate that.
People quote song lyrics here all the time. More than they should.
