darnit, centie, why have you impressed me with the elegance of the diverging diamond interchange and made me think about civil infrastructure planning issues
  • I feel like clarifying my position on jazz fusion: where it hews closer to funk and jazz it can be good, but when it moves into more rocky terrain it sounds like ultra boring prog
  • This was prompted by a YouTube comment on a tech-death video.

...And even when your hope is gone
move along, move along, just to make it through
    (2015 self)

if it doesn't hit 170 BPM its not worth listening too tbqh

    My response to that:

  • I'm just joshin

Well stop doing the josh thing.  This Josh seems to be a person of innumerable tricks and subtlety, confusing my mind with words that he doesn't mean.

What sorcery is this that this Josh does; what mimicry will he next attempt?  Is no rougish chicanery or prevarication behind this master of words?

    Anyways.

    Resurgam.
  • Well, saying that things under a certain BPM aren't worth listening too is a rather patently absurd thing to say...

Personally, I like Jazz Fusion the best when it's a 50/50 split between Jazz/Funk sounds and Rock sounds, but I don't mind at all when it verges on the rockier side of things.

St. Patrick's Day went by and I said nothing about it.

So here are some Irish authors having a pint at the local tavern

  • Ugh

Recess is the first and last time I will be preordering from iTunes

For some reason the album's in this weird, Schrödinger's cat-like state where it says I've purchased it but I haven't been charged yet and I can't download it, even after having canceled the damn preorder. :|

In comparison to Amazon with Random Access Memories last year (I preordered, got the album digitally instantly on release and the physical copy in the mail a week later) I'm just sort of annoyed.

    I never tried iTunes

Miko is not a fan of iTunes.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    iTunes works fine for me...

I think it might just be a one-off issue because of how they released it (most albums have one song for immediate download and then an option to download the rest later-- Recess, however, did not)

Usually it doesn't do this, though I've never been involved in any preorders

    Man, I was excited, too.

Just this once I was gonna buy something the day it came out and everything. Guess it wasn't meant to be (at least, not on iTunes).

  • There is a flower, known by the southern elves as the Ylverdale. Save for one quality, it is a beautiful sight to behold, blooming in a brilliant shade of violet that shimmers when the sunlight hits it, and would make a wonderful adornment to any bouquet or corsage, were it not for its one peculiar property. The ylverdale has never lain upon a maiden’s ear nor has it been offered as a token of love, as it has only been known to bloom from one location. Ylverdale is its proper name, but it is more commonly known as corpseweed.
    Starting a new story, woohoo.

    Yes.
By how many years does Gradius 3 predate Yoshi's Island?

Because there's a boss in Yoshi's Island that is basically the same idea.

I stopped using iTunes because, well, there's not much point to it if you're not using an iDevice. I've been on Android since 2010, and I don't think I'll be going back. (That and there's no iTunes for Linux. :P)

Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
