You know the other day I wanted to make an HH Monopoly board

All I've got so far is that the railroads would be named after the big four heapers (Anonus Railroad, Central Railroad, Imipolex Line, and JZ Railroad) and that Boardwalk and Park Place would be "ABC Inc" and "Alice's Palace"

At least one street needs to be "Alderney Blvd.", after Tre's home street in Stuck

    Oh, cool.

How is Juan?  Haven't seen him in a while, either.

Buddy's pretty active on Tumblr. Doing his writing thing and talking about Batman and whatnot.

Honestly, nothing's more entertaining than watching him and/or Malk rattle on about superheroes.

Is there an adjective form of "principality"?

You know, like how "nation" is "national" and "empire" is "imperial"...

Also, I'm totally retconning Centralia's backstory

    To what, I don't know

But I was never fond of the whole "the previous princess mysteriously disappeared" thing so now it didn't happen
  • I think we should rename all these Male default terms.

Human will be known as Humyn.

Kingdom will now be known as Kyssdom.

    'princely', i think

it used to be 'principal', but that sense is obsolete.

Fun fact; IBM is one order of magnitude above NCR. (NCR is "National", IBM is "International"; NCR has "Cash Register" in its name, while IBM decided to go with "Business Machines" of all sorts.)

Also, NCR is the last of the "Seven Dwarfs" to still be in business for itself; the others have either been shut down (RCA, Control Data), or merged into other companies (Burroughs, UNIVAC, Honeywell and GE's computer division).

Carbonless copy paper (CCP), non-carbon copy paper, or NCR paper is an alternative to carbon paper, used to make a copy of an original, handwritten (or mechanically typed) document without the use of any electronics. The process was invented in 1952 by chemists Lowell Schleicher and Barry Green, working for the NCR Corporation, as a biodegradable, stain-free alternative to carbon paper.[1] Early product literature piggybacked on NCR's corporate name by calling the paper No Carbon Required paper, a bacronym of National Cash Register.

It's fairly common knowledge that the conditions in the porn industry are awful.

"Principal Highway" sounds better to me than "Princely Highway", even if the latter is more correct

Though people may misunderstand it as "principal" in the modern sense, meaning a primary or major highway
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
    Would that be a problem?

i think it sounds better, too

    Night Imi.

    Alright guys, stupid grammarwank time:

"Amberco Animation present Gold and Calcium" or "Amberco Animation presents Gold and Calcium"?
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
Generally, in American English you would say the former, and in British English, you would say the latter.

Apparently, the most popular porn on the market right now is what they call 'gonzo porn'. It's basically sexualized misogyny (e.g. choking, beating and whatnot with a distinct lack of consent), with racism in some parts because, hey, can't miss out on that Interracial demographic.

I mean, I knew that stuff was out there, but I didn't realize that it was becoming the dominant form of pornography. This bodes poorly to the middle schoolers who dig up this stuff and decide that this is supposed to be normal. And worse to the people that they'll date.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
Learning about sex from pornography is a terrible idea.

I am not trying to be "that guy" here, but I find the idea that gonzo has become popular....incredibly unlikely.

Also, pornography is targeted toward adults who can, at least hypothetically, dissasociate sexual fantasies from realities, not children. Of course this doesn't stop children from viewing pornography because people of parenting age are still by and large ignorant as to how computers and the internet work, but that is not really the fault of the porn industry.

Not that said industry doesn't have problems (it has plenty), but there are things to worry about that strike me as more worthy of the emotion than that.
  • Porn is big. Porn is very big.

It's bigger than most international companies. It's bigger than Hollywood. I'd say it's bigger than Jesus, but that'd be old hat.

You'd think that we'd regulate this kind of stuff more seriously than 'let's put a warning saying that you can't watch this until you're eighteen'.
  • I am always immediately suspicious of anyone who claims to uncover anything shocking in the porn industry, because it quite often translates to normalizing (sometimes unintentionally, sometimes very intentionally) the mistreatment of sex workers.

I am not saying that you're doing that here, but the people who you are getting this from might be. Be cautious.

Internet censorship is a can of worms i'd really rather we didn't open.

And for the government to make laws regulating conditions in the industry itself, they would have to implicitly condone the industry, which given the current state of it probably wouldn't be a good plan.

edit: was responding to Yarrun here, not Burgundy Queen
  • Regulating the porn industry would be safer than not doing so, but regulating it requires acknowledging it exists and then doing something with this acknowledgement other than saying you want to burn it to the ground because something something women shouldn't have sex before marriage something something.

The United States, currently, is not in a place as a country where that is culturally possible, because the mean attitude on the porn industry is that no one wants to acknowledge it other than to condemn it, which is the same problem almost all of the vice industries (gambling, recreational drugs, etc.) have, except in porn it's worse because the moralists get to say that the women involved "deserve" it.
  • The sadness will last forever.

  • Ah, hmm.

I believe that such things can, in a way, be harmful even to adults. Society is shaped by the media it produces, and media shapes society in turn. Porn is very popular, so the ideas that thrive in porn (misogynistic and often racist ideas) can be fed back into the public conscience.

As for the veracity of the article, I admit that it would be wise to dig a bit deeper.

What exactly do you mean by whistleblowers in the porn industry 'normalizing the mistreament of sex workers'?
