On a more positive note: My dad finally got converted from a temporary employee to a permanent employee, which means starting March 1st he'll be able to get us all health insurance through his job.

Strangely enough that reaction is like inversely related to how wolf-like the dog is. Chihuahuas give me severe heeber-jeebers while huskies or even shibas are a-ok.

little yappy dogs make me a little uneasy, because in my experience their owners often don't have them under control, and won't take them seriously if they bite

My mom has a Yorkie
He's completely harmless
But he likes to sit in the front window and bark at anyone who passes by
It's not like "it might bite me" it's more "this is A Thing That Should Not Be"
That is a great summary of why small-small dogs are not my favourite dogs.
OK, that and bigger dogs tend to be friendlier and less obnoxious on the whole. Although dachshunds are funny. But they're not as small as people tend to think.
