Interestingly, the name Reynard is means either "made resilient by the gods" or "strong in counsel." It's Frankish in origin rather than Romance.

Y'know I was thinking the other week, although I don't consider myself a Christian, being raised in the tradition gives me a sort of inescapable grounding in its culture. I can quote any number of Bible verses; I can't quote anything from any other religious text (other than the Principia Discordia, I suppose). I feel like this is unfortunate, since a broader worldview might help me as a writer. Probably.

i feel like reading religious texts out of context probably doesn't do them justice

if i read the Bible, i approach it with a set of pre-formed ideas about Christianity

this isn't necessarily a good thing, but it does mean i have a better idea of how Christians feel about it

i can't just dip into the Qu'ran or the Sutras and expect to come away with a better understanding of Islam or Buddhism
