I admit, I'm kinda "over" the whole Start menu thing by now.
I never really did object to the inclusion of the touch-style Start screen--it makes sense to add touch-driven features if you intend to sell Windows on tablets--but the removal of the old Start menu still strikes me as a poor decision.
But like, I dunno, I still prefer the old Start menu to the new Start screen when I'm using a keyboard and mouse, but I've become accustomed to the Start screen enough that I don't really notice anymore. It's not a dealbreaker.
The only feature of the old Start menu I really miss anymore is the list of recently-used apps...
You say that as if I have an answer. I don't. I really don't. I'm sorry.
Bizarro's Gaddafi.
You get the runner-up prize: my empty, empty hands in front of you.
As far as dictators go, Qaddhafi was nowhere near as awful as someone like, say, Pol Pot or Suharto. So that's kind of a bogus line-up. But that's not your fault.

Are you sure?
It could be my fault.
It could totally be my fault and we just don't know it yet.
Do you know what's the worst thing about Eragon? The Dwarfs get no respect. Out of all the 'good' species of Eragonworld (the world's actual name is long and dumb and full of umlauts), they're the only ones who aren't able to become Dragon Riders. It's like giving an entire species the role of Sokka from Avatar, except that Sokka was at least valued for his cleverness and humor.

Bridge Away From Terabithia: In Theaters This Mayvember
the worst thing about eragon was that dude over at TVT who got SUPER UPSET because the dude who wrote the books had a sword and he didn't know how to use it right and YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE A SWORD IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE IT BECAUSE IT'S NOT LIKE JUST A SHARP OBJECT
i still feel waves of secondhand embarrassment for that sad nerd man
Oh, wait, there's also the fact that the elves are all vegetarian.
Being Omnivores makes sense. Being Vegans make sense. But being vegetarians makes no sense because the elves have things made out of leather, which necessitates hunting, which means that they're hunting animals just for their skin and wasting the meat.
There are reasons why most societies in the Middle Ages weren't vegetarian, you foolish wordman.
Do you know that they still have One True Love in Eragon? As in, there's one person that you're destined to fall in love with and every other relationship will eventually fail because they're not with the one person
That's, like, an entry-level fantasy trope. And this kind of malarkey was worth spending a movie on?

Alex, you mean? In fairness, dude had actual, extensive sword training with real weapons and stuff. He put his money where his mouth was when it came to his sword obsession. He also actually had a life outside the Internet and wasn't afraid to admit, in retrospect, when he was being a shameless dork.
Which he kind of was there. But I can understand his annoyance to some degree.
By realistic, I meant in terms of basic human behavior as well as things like, say, horses needing to recharge after a long ride (a thing which Paolini ignores)

Yeah, horses are living things. Paolini doesn't seem to entirely get that...
At the end of the last nook, Dwarves and Urgals (orcs) can be Dragon Riders. The Ra'Zac are extinct in Eragonland. The remaining non-dragon Rider sentients species are Dragons, Werecats, and Spirits. Dragons are already dragons, so having them ride dragons would be redundant. Werecats are scarier than dragons, and are at least as powerful as dragons. Spirits are energy beings who are also more powerful than dragons (magic-wise, at least) and stay out of mortal affairs most of the time, so they really would have no point in becoming dragonriders.
So, every sentient species either can become a dragonrider, or is so scary powerful as to not need to ride dragons.
Even the Orc/Urgals, presented at first as always evil looks, end up being accepted as equals.
Replacement complaint: How in blazes did humanity get by without a religion in Eragonland?
Atheism is also something that didn't particularly exist in Middle-Age-type societies. Again, this is because of reasons, reasons that Paolini doesn't acknowledge.

Because you are giving off the impression of being absolutely furious right now and I don't know why.
