also Switch revoked my access again, so I do need to find a new WAV->MP3 converter.
Y'know, you can do that in iTunes.
I don't know how to do anything in iTunes because it's awful, slow, obtuse software.
Please, enlighten me.
Select the tracks you want converted to MP3, right-click and scroll down to "convert to MP3."
If you want to specify MP3 quality on conversion and when, say, ripping CDs, go to the menu, select "Preferences," and then toggle with the import settings.

You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
You know, when you first talked about wanting to batch convert audio files my first thought was "I bet there's a way to do that from the command line with ffmpeg!"

Same here, though I was thinking of SoX until I noticed it doesn't support MP3 (or at least the version packages with Debian 7.4 doesn't).
I'm making a mixtape for my best friend's unbirthday, and with that, possibly trying my hand at radio DJing (or at least reading a script in such a style, anyway)
Hopefully it won't suck. She loved it last year though, so maybe my experiments may pay off.

if a picture is worth a thousand words, why do we bother writing words? why don't we just train everyone to be supergreat artists and then they can draw whatever they mean?

A picture is worth a thousand words, but it's more like a word magnet than the way we communicate which is through a word juicer.
Just because a picture picks up a word, doesn't make it suitable to put in the juice known as dialogue.
Just...what freaking pedal(s) did they use to get that guitar tone at the beginning? I figure an auto-wah and a phaser are involved, but I don't have either to play with, so I can't be sure.
Cretin-Derham Hall High School (CDH) is a private, co-educational Catholic high school located in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, it is co-sponsored by the Brothers of the Christian Schools and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. Cretin High School was named for Joseph Crétin, the first Roman Catholic Bishop of Saint Paul, while Derham Hall High School was named for Hugh Derham, a Minnesotan farmer who donated money to start an all-female Catholic boarding school. The school describes itself as committed to Christian values and academic excellence. As a college preparatory school, it seeks to prepare each student for success in both post-secondary education and in life, through academic rigor and commitment to service.

As someone who does have an auto-wah and phaser to play with, I......could not reproduce that tone.

But maybe I just did it wrong
It's definitely some kind of combined filtering/phasing thing. Palm muting, too.
