Sorry, it is against my religion to drink tea, coffee, eggnog, any carbonated or caffiene-having drink, or any soda stronger than orange juice(with one exception every ten years for Root Beer), or anything containing alcohol in any form (no "cold drinks"), or any energy drink. Completely sincere there, it is against my religion.

Some who share my faith avoid hot chocolate because we are not to have "hot drinks".
    What about hot water.

They drink that in some countries to help with digestion.

Water is allowed, so long as it is not the kind of water that gives you typhoid, dysentery, cholera, tuberculosis, or other such horrors. Water is essential to life. Of course we allow hot water, silly odra.
But gold-rush era diseases stop you from making inappropriate peer-2-teen-choice-behaviors!

Dude, I sincerely wish that those were only gold-rush-era diseases, and not problems in poor countries.

Tuberculosis is nothing to sneeze at.

I don't think that Brigham Young would object terribly to the occasional cup of chai or glass of ginger ale, Al.

Brigham Young is my sixteenth favorite Prophet. I mean, Joseph Smith ordained black men to the priesthood, and Brigham Young started the whole "black people cannot hold the priesthood" thing. It took us till the mid-nineteen-seventies to get back to where we started there.

This isn't to say that Young wasn't a great man who did many wonderful things, or a person worthy of admiration for other things he did; but I weep when I consider what could have been if not for that.

He, of all people, was wise enough to know better; and that makes it even more infuriating.

    Sorry, rambling.

    RESURGAM.

(Please do not respond to this post)
Good point, although I do not think that Smith would object, either. As you note, he was pretty progressive for his time, and the consumption of mind-altering and dangerous substances like alcohol is quite a different matter than simply drinking green tea with a bit of honey.

(Sorry. We'll discuss this later...) Oh, wait, you're still here...?

    :)
  • I wish there were a way to quickly transcribe stuff I've written onto a computer. Transcribing is probably the second most difficult part of writing for me.*

*the first most difficult thing is connecting actions coherently. I never really feel like I have the hang of this. By which I mean, if I were to create a situation where Sally enters a room, looks out the window, picks up a paper off a table, and leaves the room, I often feel like I haven't done an adequate enough job connecting those kinds of events together.
  • Now I'm trying to solve an OBS issue. Luckily RockLeeSmile is helping me with it.

also I think this version of VLC I downloaded came with spyware. Awesome.
  • should have downloaded CCCP

    should have downloaded CCCP

  • Also I really want to dabble in basically every medium. The biggest reason I use writing as an outlet is because writing is the only medium I feel I have control over. Every time I've attempted to draw comics I realized I'm not terribly good at drawing, I can't program games, film is an incredibly difficult thing to get into, and even in my theater class I'm stuck with whatever play I get.

Which kind of annoys me because I really, really like expressing myself through storytelling, and I want to be able to use a bunch of different mediums to get my ideas out there.

And then of course, there's the nagging knowledge that I'm really not too good at writing either. Every time I think I'm good I think again and realize... I'm really not.

@Sredni: I know, there's really nothing wring with the occasional soft tea with sugar or honey (my grandma drinks such, and if she isn't Mormon, nobody is.), but I just dont. Same way I don't like bacon. Just my way, I guess.

And yes, I know that most people love bacon. More for them.

    Lies.

You are good at writing. I say you have skill and that you will improve by practicing.

Don't let anyone tell you you're no good at writing, because that is a lie. The story of the dwarf and his tomb is an idea worthy of Ray Bradbury.

Authors get as good as they are after practice. But we never get to see Tolkien's very first draft, or the early sucky stories of Edgar Allan Poe. We only see the polished, perfected result;and that gives the wrong impression of how good writing happens.
  • But revisions are booooooooring :(

    (but entirely necessary, I know)

Confession: I do, deep down, love everything I write. But at the same time I can't help but feel like I'm not good at it.

In particular the one story I wrote I felt like was trite, derivative, and thematically inconsistent but man am I proud of myself for writing it.

Yay, I finally have my bedroom mini-LAN set back up....still need to test the Raspberry Pi and the old Apple kit, but that can wait until later because it's 2:30 AM. :P

I also have one of those wireless keyboards with the touchpad that I've been wanting. It's a bit small (and I have big hands), but it does seem to work.
