You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
I have no idea what zestpoole is, nor why calling a crusade upon someone's house is a thing, nor what an orgone cannon is. "The Beast" probably refers to something other than either of two tracks from the Neon Genesis Evangelion soundtrack. I barely remember "Sam Harris" as a name that I think was brought up by Odradek a few times in the course of threads displaying bad philosophy practices, but I have no idea why he has a katana. And no idea about the sea urchin lass.
I know roughly where "anorak" came from but I still don't really get why it's a thing. But I guess it can count as something I'm familiar with. I know what Centralia and stairbed are. Yesquoting is...well I know what it is, but why is it even a notable thing?
On the other hand, "ponys are shit :D and anime" got unfortunately booted. (Originally, I had planned on waiting for "ponies are shit :D and anime" to go down to 1 and then swoop in to boot that and replace it with "ponys are shit :D and anime", which I would then upvote consistently, but I missed that chance.) That's one of the few memes I know.

Honestly, Flappy Bird reminds me of that sort of first generation of mobile phone games back when a "mobile phone" was still a flip phone with a 2" screen and a numeric keypad
Not that that's a bad thing; it just strikes me as kind of a throwback is all
Ghost Dad sounds like the name of a psychedelic indie rock outfit that puts way too much reverb on their vocals and uses Moog synth and electrified acoustic guitar as the lead instruments.

I don't get any of those except Anorak, Stairbed, Centralia, and Yesquoting.
...probably because it's indicative of a battle of ideas and influence
and i want to be able to control that influence, and a simple forum game like that has meta-game effects (or at least i think it does), and it also provides an easy way for me to influence said effects
What's funny about Flappy Bird is that even though it's really simple every design decision in it was the wrong one.
-controlling by tapping the touch screen is imprecise and your thumb often gets in the way of the screen
-you only have one way to get through obstacles
-hit detection is wonky; exacerbated by the fact that it's hard to tell how far up the bird will go when you tap
-it's a horizontal game that is oriented vertically
I just find it incredible that a 10+ year old flash game with the same concept is a million times better than Flappy Bird.
That's kind of not the point though, the point is that no one should be the target of a mountain of internet hate because they made a subpar mobile game that they didn't even charge people for.

I wasn't saying anything about your post. The topic of Flappy Bird came up and that's a thought I had for a while.
Also Flappy Bird isn't so much subpar as devoid of good qualities in an inoffensive way.

That is one of the things subpar can mean, Kexruct.
@ Aliroz: "ponys are shit :D and anime" is basically a stylistic suck catchphrase that nohaynicklibre's used a number of times, in the style of the spurdo spärde meme, which is all about parodying the broken English postings of angry young teens trying to be cool on the internet.

Devoid of good qualities as in that game has nothing positive. Nothing. Subpar would imply that the merits are slightly outweighed by the bad, but that there are still good points.

Zestpoole is the protagonist of Tachyon's faux MS Paint Adventure.
"I have called a Crusade upon your house" is Mo's way of expressing jocular displeasure, à la The Pope calling a Crusade upon, well, that person's house.
"The Beast (Seven Bastard Suck)" is a song by The Virgin Prunes, which TNS or I automatically post whenever Satan is mentioned. It is a tradition dating back years to the TVT Music forum.
Sam Harris is an asinine atheist commentator that Odradek loves to hate. He is the object of adoration for many obnoxious nerds, some of whom undoubtedly write fanfic for bad shounen action series. So Haven made a crack about him wielding a katana. So it goes.
The sea urchin lass is from an anime that Mo likes—I think Yuyushiki? He has described her as his role model.
The ORGONE CANNON is my thing. It's a Motherheap gag relating to Wilhelm Reich's orgone theory, which ties into Justice's conspiracy theory jokes. It is used to battle reptilians.

Um, no, if it is devoid of good qualities in an inoffensive way, it is just par, just okay, just average. mediocre; but not bad. If the bad outweighs the good, then it is subpar and not mediocre, but that's not what KExruct is saying.
You know, I think the original Resident Evil was more effective because of how clunky it is. The chapter about it in Extra Lives expresses this better than I ever could though.
I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
"Anorak" is a British term referring to someone who obsesses over something or other (the term refers to an article of clothing worn by trainspotters; of note, trainspotting is basically the British equivalent of stamp collecting when it comes to lame hobbies). Orgone is a substance which is purifies everything and kills reptilians or something.
"Zestpoole" is a name that Imi and JZ like, and was eventually applied to the player character in Bobby's Choose Your Own Adventure thread.

You know what baffles me?
The continued development of Unity.
All the nerds I talk to seem to share my opinion that it's terrible, and who the hell besides nerds is using Ubuntu?
okay, let's be honest here, burgundy, people +1 and -1 stuff in that game based on what they like and dislike. it's pretty simple, but there's definitely a pattern. there are other patterns that also play into this (among them are dogpiling as well as contrarianism) as well.
but so basically it's sort of a mark of coolness for something to be upvoted a lot.
so it feels nice if something you like gets upvoted a lot.
okay, i can't say for sure about you, but it feels nice for me if something I like gets upvoted a lot.
so i automatically start strategizing to get stuff i like upvoted. or to try to make things turn out the way i want them to. like, it happens automatically.
and we all do that. just that we don't usually talk about this out loud or think it through to this depth or log our thoughts in internet postings.
so if you dont' like what i'm saying, just consider me shitposting.
i like social analysis. i like figuring out what makes people tick, and why people do what they do. i like figuring out how social forces work. i also like territory control games.

We're probably fine.
And someone asked Tv Tropes to write down all the virtues of the movie Ghost Dad.

They don't have to make sense.
ultimately, both choices are as meaningless and hollow as the universe in which we live.
Any hints, Tucker?
