A lot of people don't like the First Person of it(I tolerated it) But I think the Metroid prime series certainly is a worthy sequel series to Super Metroid.
Metroid isn't a shooter and its actiony parts are sparse, so adding the scanning mechanism just seems like a no brainer.

Honestly, I think Sonic at this point has far-reached the quantum Counterclock care particle ray.
The moment they gave a hedgehog a gun, are you really surprised by anything that happens to Sonic at this point? They could revise the entire series into Bicycles and tails is a helicopter and I wouldn't be surprised.
The disappointing thing is that Colors and Generations were definite steps in the right direction as far as "making a good Sonic game that is both a good game and representative of the spirit of the series" went, this is just....like, really awful.
