You know it occurs to me that my acquaintanceship with NL and RockLeeSmile (I really hesitate to call anyone a friend without their express permission even if I do talk to them a lot) has given me what could dubiously be described as contacts within the industry without me even searching for them.
I guess this is that "business networking" thing people try to do.

Bleh, I miss walking around and taking photos

in Oh-heyo too huh?
We got snow earlier today and it's now frozen. Stuff's hard enough that I got a cut from it when I went outside a bit ago (I was bringing groceries in, my mom works night shift and went shopping on her way home).
again it might not count as recent music since at least 3 out of 4 members are better known for other, older things, but the 4 of them playing together is recent
Father shall be swallowed by the son, and brother shall be swallowed by brother.
Yeezus... technically a good album but only a few tracks from it are listenable out of context because of how abrasive it is as a whole. Polarizing doesn't even begin to describe the thing: some people got it for free through Google Play and promptly deleted it from their libraries.
Kind of a hard album to describe since it straddles the line between "hard-sounding for the art" and "hard-sounding just for its own sake" so closely.

a lot of it seems to be the whiplash from it being so different from Kanye's last big outing with Jay-Z as The Throne
that album was more experimental than prior work from both of them, but they still got some good marketable shit from there (HAM, Otis and, infamously, Niggas in Paris)
Yeezus, by comparison, is the antithesis: esoteric, hard to market (or done in a way that made it seem like Kanye was crazed to the public), and only scarcely played on the radio until very recently

For some reason I'm playing with Elementary OS in VirtualBox
It's quite nice; I certainly would prefer it over Ubunty's Unity any day
Comments
both feature distorted guitars but that's about it
or is that Wolves in the Throne Room.
I don't know the difference tbh. Wolves. Yeah but I don't really listen to like any of either. So I'd just have to guess as to which was which.
oh nooooo
I have Wolfmother's first album, it's basically a listenable-but-not-great pastiche of all the great bands of yesteryear
[x] mildly disagree.
i feel undiscerning
i meant to ask since you were talking about recent music before
what are your thoughts on Black Country Communion?
Well that was nice of him.

might be worth a listen

I know Frozen's doing well in theaters, but this is ridiculous

That song is like Grand Theft Auto for the ears: problematic, violent and gross but fun
there's like thousands of more abrasive albums out there that are popular and successful

There are some good songs on it. There are also some songs on it where Kanye makes racist comments about an Asian woman's vagina and demands pastries.

but hey, sex sells
Really hyped for the second Hail Mary Mallon album.
"Berzerk" may very well be one of my favorite Beastie Boys tracks
I see it.
