I'm not gonna unfollow someone over video game opinions because that's silly but someone I follow supports the Thalmor and
uh
The Thalmor is the combined government of the third Aldmeri Dominion, and according to Ondolemar represents an alliance between Altmer and Bosmer regents. A militarist regime founded on beliefs of racial supremacy, the Thalmor seek to advance their power and influence across Tamriel with the specific intent of establishing the racial superiority of Mer over Man, "one century at a time". In Skyrim, they maintain an embassy in the mountains overlooking Solitude, are in control of Northwatch Keep (used as a covert detainment center for their political prisoners), and have an unused building set aside for them by the Empire within Solitude's city walls. Thalmor Justiciars can be found traveling the roads, sometimes with a Nord prisoner in tow, and engaging any Stormcloaks they see in combat. While not immediately hostile to you, conversing with them will reveal their antagonistic nature and choosing certain dialogue options (particularly on the topic of Talos worship) can turn them hostile toward you. Thalmor death squads may also track you down in the wilds, proclaiming "Behold the future! Behold the Thalmor!" as they attack.
The thing about vampires and werewolves is that they're not real. Liking them only implies, say, wanting to be able to act without consequences. The Thalmor are literal Nazi parallels.
They have an alternate form where they succumb to animalistic impulses that is entirely separate from their day-to-day lives. They may sustain a few scars, sure, but that's not a real consequence. Moreover, the kinds that experience psychological trauma aren't the kind people say they want to be.
werewolves in Skyrim can kind of act without consequences, in that unless they get seen while transforming they can go around murdering people and nobody will know who was responsible
but anyway, the Thalmor are evil elves
i mean, sure, i see the Nazi comparison (although i still think they're more reminiscent of the Spanish Inquisition, really) but they're still a fantasy creature
actually thinking about it i guess the lore makes the Thalmor sound more Nazi-ish than what we saw in Skyrim
maybe we'll see more of them in a future game and the Nazi thing will be more apparent
but their actions in Skyrim itself are textbook Inquisition, really (and it's not like the Inquisition was exactly fond of non-white people, either, since they associated them with Judaism and Islam)

Either way, not something that should be supported.

I rooted for Twilight Sparkle in Friendship is Witchcraft

well, no, but it is a fantasy
i don't know how serious this person is but fans rooting for the bad guys in fiction is pretty common
100% serious. As in, honestly believes them to be right. Even came up with an ass-backwards explanation for how Talos totally isn't a god even though his godhood is repeatedly demonstrated and is not even remotely ambiguous.
And yeah, it is fantasy, which is why I'm not particularly angry, but it does have unfortunate implications.

I've long learned that having arguments about Skyrim politics is the gate to weird things.
I mean, it's clear to basically everyone that the Empire is the logical choice, but Stormcloak proponents have emotion behind them and you don't frigging mess with pathos arguments.
I've made 4 characters, all of different races, and not one that I can justify joining the Stormcloaks with, especially with the info that you can steal.

to be honest i would have probably been kind of hurt if you'd done that to one of my posts, although i know you were joking
Zun art is best

Assassin poems, Poems that shoot
guns. Poems that wrestle cops into alleys
and take their weapons leaving them dead
^ fair enough, it does
This is how they would look like, minus the white skin
I mean, it's fine art, I don't think any workplace would get mad about it
well, it wasn't awful, but it's not one of my favourites

i can at the very least sympathize with some of the Stormcloaks' grievances, though their racism is extremely offputting
