I know I'm late to this, but my main concern about TVT and the whole "pedoshit" thing had to do with how gross the term itself was (yes, we know the subject matter is repugnant, no need to hammer it in, guys), and that it came along at a time when TVT was becoming more strict in its moderation in general; while I'm glad a lot of the creepier stuff is gone from TVT, it also seems to have come at the price of a lot of freedom in other areas (not to mention even more trouble with admin/mod fiat).
i think that was partly my fault; i used the phrase a lot and some of the other mods started using it
i'll be honest, it was kind of funny to me that tropers started treating it like a technical term, since it was originally just what it sounded like
i get what you're saying, but there were plenty of tropers who felt the subject matter was defensible and desirable, which is why i felt it necessary to hammer the point home
plus i was angry a lot of the time at that point; the extent of the backlash was a disillusioning experience for me
Ah, I see. And yeah, there were quite a few lolicon defenders there. I don't know if I had the stomach to square off with them myself, though I do know that I found good swathes of the wiki covered with their...precious bodily fluids, if you will. :P (As an aside, you could write a book about Japan's obsession with cuteness and youth in general, and possibly its relation to their aging population...)
In less yucky news, I'm listening to old Todd in the Shadows reviews, and it feels kind of like listening to old editions of Casey's Top 40 from 1989-1990 in, oh, 1994 after grunge and G-funk swept all the synth-pop, hair metal and early hip-hop out.

I've been watching Ashens lately. His reviews are good as background noise, since there usually isn't much going on.
I realize this sounds pretty demeaning, but I'm not trying to be. He's witty, and the stuff he reviews is quite "interesting", for lack of a better term.

I also really find it just....hilarious isn't the right word because it implies someone getting arrested for something someone else did is funny, but very America that police went to Bieber's house after he did Some Bad Thing or another and arrested a no-name rapper (Li'l Za) he was hanging out with instead of him.

Anyway I've seen people being disappointed at Kill la Kill for not being a TTGL reboot but I haven't seen anyone being happy that it is a Cutie Honey reboot
Also, beyond the way Senketsu's introduced I really like KLK
It does take a couple of episodes to really hit a good stride but it's gotten engaging enough that I do want more, even if I'm not as active in watching as I was when I started it a few weeks back.
Honestly, I'll probably watch the rest when the show's almost done, kinda like how I got into Danganronpa right before it ended.
