i kind of got to a point where i seemed to be doing the same things over even though i know there's more to find
the specific event I just mentioned requires you to stand in a specific area and spam the cat effect for several minutes. So yeah, there's some obtuse stuff.
I would enjoy that as well, although in order for Tachyon to account for certain... physical vicissitudes in the POV character, I would have to marginally spoil some stuff.

Initially, the character is an androgynous human as initially described. Race and ethnicity are also supremely vague, although I think that freckles of some sort are present. Later s/he is a number of odd things, although a small bipedal tapirid in a cassock and a pillbox hat is probably the simplest.

I think I stopped reading the series in like 2011 or so. But Urabe has a character design that's stuck with me for some reason.
I've heard really good things about the show, actually, in spite of the weird premise.
I liked the manga a lot when I read it but it's one of those things that's like, awkward to try to get people into.
I also haven't read it in years.
That's exactly what I've heard about the show: It's quite funny, clever and well-written, but trying to explain it to people is just heinously awkward.
