The crop of Oscar nominations this year is really boring.
I've heard FILM CRIT HULK say that you could basically change Oscar categories from "Best X" to "Most X" and the more I think about it the more it makes sense.
Also the Oscars aren't really good at choosing movies actually resonate; they mainly choose movies that get Oscars.

Excuse me, Captain Phillips and American Hustle are things I've plunked down $9.9 billion on, don't call them "boring" :P
but for serious Hollywood seems to be in kind of a rut lately
You couldn't have fed the hungry or funded anti-malaria programs in Africa or set up water purification processes in third world countries with that money?

Tautological, but true.
Wait, what I said or what FILM CRIT HULK said?
Note: I'm a bit shaky on the definition of "tautological." Will Google.
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
"The Oscars choose movies that get Oscars" was the tautological statement, here
Which means the statement "Tautological, but true" is also a tautological statement.
And now I'm curious as to what you thought about the statement in question.
...maybe?
And yeah, the Oscars have always been something of a 'okay, what was technically good but isn't revolutionary enough to rock the boat' sort of thing. At least, as far as Cracked has taught me.
Basically, Oscars choose movies that do a good job of affecting pomp and circumstance, but they rarely actually earn the aforementioned pomp and circumstance. When's the last time you heard someone talk about The Artist?
There's also the fact that the Oscar judging conglomerate is chock full of white, middle-aged rich guys, and you know how their tastes statistically tend to be.

They like the sassy movies that don't need no recognition?
The author of that article argues it is, and the Oscars are the last bastion of the brows, and even they are fading in relevance. Basically, that the entire brow system depends on how much the general populace cares about the opinions of the cultural gatekeepers (the critics and the award ceremonies) and the movies are the last medium where people do care.

I wish we had movies about tapeworms being heroic.
I mean, seriously Pixar, you always make your characters visually appealing.
I plan to make a movie about leeches, so I can assume people are just commenting on the accuracy of the movie or making cute puns when they say it sucks.

After that, make a movie about trumpet players, so you can assume people are just commenting on the accuracy of the movie or making cute puns when they say it blows.
A movie about drills, so you can assume people are just commenting on the accuracy of the movie or making cute puns when they say it's boring.
A movie about demons, so you can assume people are just commenting on the accuracy of the movie or making cute puns when they say it's a hellish experience.
A movie about Michael Jackson, so you can assume people are just commenting on the accuracy of the movie or making cute puns when they say it's bad.
A movie named This Movie Is Awful And You Shouldn't Watch It, so that when people say it's awful and shouldn't be watched, you can be happy that at least you're getting the message out.
I am curious as to how it became known as "brow" were some gentlemen just chilling with their "brows" was there a saying to the effect of "Brows before Hows".
were they just passing by the street window "brow"sing?
Also, anyone know what script youtube is, I accidently blocked it with adblock because of stupid sites that give you advertisements like a rich place might give you the sense of privilege and entitlement.
Sure, the Disney version (and by default, the commonly accepted Western version) of Pocahontas's tale are romanticized to the utmost. It wouldn't make a very good children's movie if the heroine was half the age of her love interest, and was later captured and held for ransom, and died in her early 20s.

Heck, your entire article be shady. Look at this.
I'm not an artist, but I don't think her right arm's supposed to look atrophied. Also, spines don't work that way.

I get it!
Ah, last year it was a grind, and next year it will be wearing.
