it's like "oh no, you might be a jerk but we can't do anything about it, sorry, so we'll just sit on our hands and do nothing"
uh, no, that's not how a properly functioning justice system works. a properly functioning justice system picks up the pieces and delivers justice when other people won't do it!
Politics is what happens when you need to make a decision as a group, and only one decision to be made, but people disagree on what decision should be made.
also technology, the corporate world, the environment, the laws of physics themselves, whatever purpose or coincidence or whatever the hell it was that brought us about in the first place if it even makes sense to ask that question
A young orphan, born in the slums of a heaving metropolis. Her senses dulled by smog and pollution. The world a mass of mumbling unfeeling greys. But one day, a figure comes forth and offers its hand. A new life. A chance of normality. A group dedicated to the protection of humanity, and the reclaiming of its history.
Re: that conversation earlier today about pop radio.
Pet Shop Boys put out Electric last year. I don't know enough of their discography to weigh in myself, but several critics thought it was their best album in decades. It was exactly the sort of semi-retro, dancefloor-friendly synthpop that the pop stations had been pushing 24/7 last year, plus it had lyrics that were actually worth the time it took to analyze them, and melodies that sounded good even when you weren't dancing and/or high.
So of course it didn't get any radio play here in the US. Thanks, music industry!
To be honest, inertia is a big part of why I'm still reading TOOTS.
That's what it was like for me for a long time, but the latter half of the arc was amazing. It seemed like every single strip since that really sucky one has included a dramatic revelation, betrayal, death, or all three.

thing is, they're esoteric but civilizations rely on them these days so everyone's affected by them
noses poked where they're not wanted
i want to know why things work the way they are
i don't want to take things for granted, and i don't want to be ignorant or domesticated
guess i stopped before he showed
i blame Sherlock for putting that one in my head
i mean, civilized to the point of helplessness, which i am
i stopped shortly after he showed, actually
i finally got too bored to keep checking it
One might say it deconstructs and subverts it.
see
i got into it as a troper because i thought it was brilliantly witty
and then i didn't so much
how tiresome

Assassin poems, Poems that shoot
guns. Poems that wrestle cops into alleys
and take their weapons leaving them dead

It'd be a "whenever I have time" thing, but I think it could be fun
