You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
thing is, it obviously *is* Sherlock's fault; even in the BBC series, he's been shown to be quite capable of empathy and moral indignation and showing consideration for others' feelings, he just doesn't usually bother with any of it
which makes me suspect Moffat just doesn't know what 'sociopath' means and uses it because he thinks it sounds cool

i can't believe i actually still have a screenshot of this
Yeah, I really hate how in the new show, "Sociopath" is so glamorized.
It makes Sherlock not responsible for being an utter jerk to certain people (seriously man, Andersen doesn't deserve that crap you give him.), just part of his personality that he can't change; and whenever people ask him to "not be.. you", it makes the audience get all sad.
Like, he has an automatic license to be rude to people, and when people tell him off, they're the ones who are wrong and we should feel sorry for him because it's not his fault.
Also, Moriarty is frigging annoying as all get out.
-nods-
And Ice King is, perhaps, a better fit for sociopath. He seems to only have the slightest understanding of basic sympathy, which fits the description as I remember it.
Also I follow at least one person on Tumblr who loves Elementary and hates Sherlock
It's kinda weird because I've never watched either and thus can't judge
Most of the Sherlock hate I've seen is because it's "ableist" and when I see that I sorta zone out.
I've mentioned this many times before but I really don't like the tendency to equate social progressiveness to quality; even if progressiveness is important it's not the sole determining factor of how good a work is.
I got banned on purpose so I could get into the "Edit Banned" thread and talk to the mods. I needed to propose a solution that would let Myrmidon go unbanned, while still preventing the arguments that got Myrm banned in the first place.
IT was a temporary ban, and then the mods decided to make it permanent because really, my Aliroz-ness was not acceptable. It used to be acceptable back when they had guys like Shinfernape and Falconfly all over the place, but not anymore. I was only allowed to stay as long as I did because I was grandfathered in, I suspect. Some of the mods had a soft spot for me. I got away with crap the newbies wouldn't have been allowed to say; and eventually, the disparity between the Tv Tropes of the old times (which I still acted like I was part of) and the Tv Tropes of the now times wasn't hideable.
I didn't change or do anything different than what I had been doing. Tv Tropes iteslf changed, and my behavior was no longer acceptable.
I still really enjoy now-time TVT, but it simply can't have me for reasons of rules. How can they expect Newbies to act by rules that I don't follow?
I'd try to get the mods here to unban Shichi here, but, let's face it, Nonny and Centie simply won't.
i don't think the likes of Shinfernape and Falconfly were ever more than tolerated. Eddie hated IJBM. With Shichibukai things were different; it was only in certain threads that he said dreadful things, and elsewhere he was well-liked.
The TVT *i* liked best was a much smaller, quieter site, where everyone was interested in tropes and troping, and people like Falconfly would have stood out like a sore thumb. The tropers were friendly, the staff could take a joke and make a good one, and the forums felt a lot calmer and more polite.
YKTTW and the Discussion pages could still get pretty heated on occasion, of course, but on the whole i felt it was a nicer place to be back then.

Alternately, he calls himself one (perhaps somewhat jokingly) to let himself off the hook for being a jerk.
At least, that seems plausible given what I know about the character and the show. I have not seen it yet, though, so maybe he was being dead serious, but even then it is plausible that he is, y'know, wrong about that for other reasons.
No, but they were tolerated. We just went and said, "Oh, that's just Falconfly. He says terrible things sometimes.", "Oh, that's just Shinfernape. He is a shameless troll sometimes"., "Oh, that's just Aliroz. He/she sometimes goes insane and posts huge rants about language sometimes.".
It's really my fault that Shichibukai got banned. I should have been there to stop him. I should have stopped him doing things he'd regret later; I should have been able to keep him away from that part of the fora.He was so brilliant when he was talking about history, or Steven King books, or One Piece, or anything he was interested in.
my impression was that Shichibukai felt strongly about the opinions that got him banned, and would not have appreciated being told not to express them.
Maybe he'd have listened to you, but it isn't your responsibility to control your friends.

It's just, if he'd stayed out of that part of the fora, and had kept to the fun parts...
It's not controlling your friend to tell him not to stick a fork in an electric socket. There are other things to stick a fork in; and there are other things to put in electric sockets.

Book Holmes was more polite (or at least more formal), but much less tactful.
Dangit, Princess Ninja.
he's insensitive at times, but so is the BBC one
and the BBC one is, as you say, just plain rude a lot of the time
also one could argue that the Ice King actually does show signs of mental illness from the crown, if not outright sociopathy
which makes me suspect Moffat just doesn't know what 'sociopath' means and uses it because he thinks it sounds cool
Assassin poems, Poems that shoot
guns. Poems that wrestle cops into alleys
and take their weapons leaving them dead

Andersen really doesn't deserve all the crap the fandom gives him.
Except the dinosaur-liking. That's awesome.
Anderson is kind of a jerk, but fans often take things too far...
May i ask why you left?
And now you're banned too, despite being a mod?
Great, now how am I going to get you to unban my best friend (number two of two)?
And i can't unban Shichibukai. i'm not a mod anymore so they took away my banhammer and assorted kit.

i got exasperated with certain tropers on occasion
Navarra here is not as impressive as the nation-states I usually command in this game.
fuck

Antso there is the ruler at the start date though so I can do little about that.
Why would you even go to a website like that? Heck no. I had too much fun there. I met Yarrun there, and if you think I'm gonna forget that, you got another thing coming, buddy.
some of which was a rather painful learning experience, admittedly, but it wouldn't do me any good to forget that
It's where the original Heap was.
