It might just be the circles I run in but I found far less hype for Random Access Memories.

I still think Pentatonix's Daft Punk medley outdoes anything the band itself has ever done though.

yeah I heard it was like on the Colbert Report or something but I don't have TV so I missed all that.

And like, Yeezus songs were premiered by projecting them onto the sides of buildings.

I think the core issue here is that I'm getting really tired of this "album release as an event" idea.

offhand I only just got Rome Fortune's Beautiful Pimp a few weeks ago even though it was apparently kind of a critical darling early in 2013, and I have yet to listen to Race Music by Armand Hammer and the Hellfyre Club's new album, which got a similar treatment.

Honestly I think like most young history nerds I went through a period of considering Teddy Roosevelt pretty cool but as I've gotten older I've discovered that he was sort of a douche to a lot of people (as many U.S. presidents are, it's not a thing unique to him by any means). Also, there's a fixation a certain subset of people who like the idea of learning about history/science but don't actually like learning about history/science have on him as some kind of archetypal badass, which is just a stupid way to misrepresent an actual human being.

These are the same kinds of people who can name exactly two scientists and those scientists are Bill Nye and Willam deGrasse Tyson.
