  • and lastly

this might be the only surviving proof that I did have turntables at one point. And it's one of the most aggressively random and stupid things I've ever done.
  • I was going to say something about my earlier stuff being more experimental than my more recent stuff and how I wish I broke out of my mold.

But then I looked through my soundcloud and realized that, in the last year, I've made a track featuing cow sounds with an alien abduction theme, a track featuring metal hits and screaming, two and a half (well, two and a quarter) fugues, and a track specifically intended to mimic Mo's usual style.

Sure, most of that stuff was earlier on in the year, but I don't really have a reason to complain.

  • And while we're on the topic of my floundering music career, how's the new image?
Can I have the stems for this? I could take this in soooooo many cool directions.

Also this sounds a lot like a less fuzzy version of what's going to be on For Your Face & Legs Also (see: "Night Train to Gahonnis").

my sound's changed a lot over the years

At first I just looped GarageBand clips together poorly and called them songs (Life in Red), then I started doing so with vox (The Definition of a Star). After that I started using loops together with my own melodies (my first public release, District 76), and then I finally jumped ship from GarageBand (mostly) to Audiotool and started making slightly more realized electronic shit (Esoteric Pads, Nostalgia Trip whenever I get around to finishing it).

So yeah. Evolution for sure, namely from "Terrible" to "Not As Terrible".

Is it bad that I still want to write a blog about bad children's books?

I've been putting it off for about a year now because I worry I don't have the social skills to make it work...
  • Hey Mojave, look at this.

I know you're not a fan of making things seem socially progressive but it's important to remember that Gainax is a very good studio and that every minute of that show probably took hours to make; it's not unreasonable to assume things like might have been intentional.

Well, I still have the raw files. But most of it's LMMS-specific stuff, so I'd have to record the separate bits with Audacity. Also, I'm not sure what exactly stems are in this case. I mean, I know what they are, but I don't know what elements of that track constitute a single stem.

I like Kill la Kill a lot but I am not about to posit that it has a feminist message. I've seen that post before.

I don't actually know how LMMS works. Can you open the project in it and show me a screenshot? I might be able to work out what you have to do.

    Well, essentially

Writing a "serious" blog will require accepting feedback from random people who just happen to read what I've posted

It will also mean I've got to do things like responding to criticism, answering requests for specific books, and acknowledging when I've fucked something up

I don't know how to build myself up to be ready for that sort of thing; I still run and hide when I express unpopular opinions on forums >_>

Well, they're bad kids books. I don't think anyone will have any particular affection for them.

My only problem with the concept is that bad children's books is kind of a narrower topic than it might initially seem; most of the worst children's books are just kinda dumb in a not-terribly-interesting way.

OK it looks fairly similar to FL's standard setup.

Basically what you're going to want to to is just mute all but one of those "lines" (eg. everything but "Default Preset") and then export that as a separate .mp3/.wav/whatever. Then just repeat that for each "line". You'll have the stems in no time, shouldn't take more than 15 minutes tops.

I suppose I could broaden it to bad books in general...

I don't think it's exactly a feminist message; just that the post is saying it's a coming-of-age story and using hyper-sexualized outfits is a valid artistic decision to that end.

what about bad Young Adult books?

There are a ton of those, some quite entertainingly bad, and then you won't have as many (you'll still get some) people begging you to spork the Twilight series.

Yeah I know what it says I just kind of think it's....well not necessarily wrong, but it's the kind of "squint with your head sideways" thing I don't like to get involved in.

Twilight is so boring and barely-there
  • I wanna learn how to do that synthesized tuba / low-end brass thing TNGHT did on "Higher Ground".

Probably like at least a hundred.

Just about the best description of Kill La Kill that I've read.

The girl with the bowl cut though, Mako, she's pretty funny.

I meant the content of the post Kex is referring to. I actually like the show fine but I haven't caught up for quite a while.

Mako is probably the best character.
  • The show honestly doesn't look sexy to me. It looks adorable if anything.
  • Also the costumes themselves, while I don't find them attractive, I do kinda like the design.

    “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
I need to get back to The Eccentric Family, then look into Kill la Kill, Aku no Hana, Kyousougiga and Gingitsune. Oh, and Watamote.

This has been a pretty decent year for anime, hasn't it? More than two things that I might care about.

Of these I have watched only some of KLK. A bit of Watamote but I have no interest in following that up.

I heard Aku no Hana was really weird.

My anime of the year was probably Yuyushiki as silly as that sounds. Otherwise known as Implied Lesbian Threesome Googling Club.

Speaking of anime, Space Dandy premiers on Toonami on Saturday.

Aku No Hana was good, but the ending was very weak.

So I have heard. It cuts off in the middle of the manga or something, if I am not mistaken.

Also, Mo, "weird" is generally a selling point for me.

    Tre that is great.

Also, I don't feel too well all the sudden. I may have had too much sugar today. :/

Ok but like I'm an autistic tranny who obsesses over transportation minutia and reads mostly children's books and doesn't have a job or a functional car and lives in her parents' basement and also I'm fat and watch cartoons as a hobby, plus twice in the past year I've gotten in needless confrontations with security because I raged over there mere existence

There's not one part of that that's not pathetic

    You are aware of that.

Also you did not create an artwork or wiki that the internet could stumble upon and obsess over.

    Aww man, that's awesome.

You've also reminded me that I need to finish Hitchhiker's Guide, which I bought in JULY
