it would have made more sense and been both less ambiguous and more to the point to say that governments and corporations are merely organized groups of people
but that would have taken me longer to write, and might have implied a more hardline reductionist position than i intended to espouse
I always thought that localisation were strange for lack of better words.
Stripping away content with motive to make the media more "accessible", though it do strip away something really important bits and pieces. Soft science stuff I guess

I feel weird for buying myself this huge copy of Grimm's Fairy Tales
I'm not even sure why; something about it just strikes me as a weird decision

It was one of many books I bought with a Barnes & Noble gift card I received from a friend
I gave the majority of said books to my siblings for Christmas
i sometimes feel kind of bitter because i feel that American media is often shown here without localization, but the reverse is less often the case
there are reasons for this, of course, i am just stroppy and oversensitive
Those reasons seem to be partly economical (American TV seasons run longer than British ones, also localization can mean that an American company owns the rights to the resulting product, as NBCUniversal owns the U.S. version of The Office), partly cultural
British preschool shows tend to be redone with American-accented voices...is the reverse the case in Britain?
I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I don't know why redubbing of British accents is the case here...I assume it's because they worry that American preschoolers wouldn't accept British accents, that changing them to American accents would create more subconscious acceptance, or something.
children that age are still learning language, that might be part of it
but i know British speakers are sometimes subtitled on American TV, which seems silly to me because they're speaking English and we don't do the reverse

British people's accents can be thick enough at times for Americans to have trouble understanding them...I know when I was watching Doctor Who a couple of years ago I had to have the subtitles on sometimes (though this was usually due to the alien voices and not British accents).

Breathing. The little girl has trouble breathing. That's why she's in the hospital, maybe. She's supposed to stay in her room, but she think she knows better than the grown-ups and she sneaks out to explore by herself..
It's June of 2008. The girl wakes up one morning to find the rain falling outside her window. She wants to go out on the street--to be outside for the first time in months, to feel the rain on her skin, to feel alive again. But the nurses strictly forbid it.
This is nothing but a collection of random thoughts that pop into my head, really.

Late one night, just as she was preparing to sneak outside to feel the fresh night air, she heard rustling in the room across from hers.
Curiosity drove her to open the door, but it was fear that made her backpedal. For a rather stern-looking guard was sitting there, starring straight at her.
"Well now, I knew I would catch you one of these nights".
But if you really MUST deliver feedback to me personally, then I recommend the following ritual. Arrange a bunch of laptops in a circle, all pointing inward and running Namco High at the same time. Sit in the middle of the circle, and hold a flickering candle in each hand. Then whisper my name, picture a horse, and wet yourself gently. I believe you will find the results of this procedure to be spiritually profound, if also fake.
