You know, it just occurred to me how silly the question "how did you confuse x for y?" is. I mean, it's not lik people keep a log of why they thought x was y or y was x.

Problems don't just disappear into thin air, but stress from problems is actually a real thing, Idealism isn't about shoving problems to the side, rather it's a viewpoint on how you address problems and deal with the stress they produce in your everyday life.
You can let the stress drag you down and conflate your problems, or you can try to push past them in the hope that good things happen, rather than bad.
