mainly i just want mo to rec me something lyrically similar because i kinda figured that he'd know of something that was like that but even better because he knows rap things
you know for a genre focused on lyrics it kinda bugs me that hip-hop's genre divisions don't seem to be primarily lyrical in nature
i mean like apart from nerdcore and horrorcore, which of course both tend to be quite terrible...
I'm busy right now but based solely on the cover art I'd say try Themselves. I think you can still find copies of theFREEhoudini floating around the internet.
I rarely recommend anything from anticon. especially nowadays, but cLOUDDEAD and Themselves are usually a safe bet, even if Doseone's solo career remains spottier than a dalmatian.
they're a label consisting primarily of acts at the extreme far edge of hip-hop, like cLOUDDEAD (if you haven't heard their self-titled, you absolutely must), Themselves, WHY?, Serengeti, and some others.
From about 2011 until whenever they signed Young Fathers they were kind of a joke being mostly known for exceptionally boring acts like Rapewolf, now I think they've started to branch into more general indie music.
of course I've always preferred Def Jux (and there was indeed some tension, see the now mostly forgotten El-P/Sole beef from the early 2000s) since they tended to pander to the indie rock crowd less, but that is just me.

gloo gloo, gloo gloo gloo
Guess it's too late for that
why is time
Reflecting on my past life and it doesn't have much time
'Cause at 5 o'clock they take me to the Gallows Pole
The sands of time for me are running low
When the priest comes to read me the last rites
I take a look through the bars at the last sights
Of a world that has gone very wrong for me
Can it be that there's some sort of an error
Hard to stop the surmounting terror
Is it really the end not some crazy dream?
Somebody please tell me that I'm dreaming
It's not easy to stop from screaming
But words escape me when I try to speak
Tears they flow but why am I crying?
After all I am not afraid of dying
Don't I believe that there never is an end?
As the guards march me out to the courtyard
Someone calls from a cell "God be with you"
If there's a God then why has he let me die?
As I walk all my life drifts before me
And though the end is near I'm not sorry
Catch my soul 'cause it's willing to fly away
Mark my words believe my soul lives on
Don't worry now that I have gone
I've gone beyond to seek the truth
When you know that your time is close at hand
Maybe then you'll begin to understand
Life down there is just a strange illusion
Yeah, yeah, yeah,
Hallowed be Thy name
Yeah, yeah, yeah,
Hallowed be Thy name
^THAT'S NOT A REASON
Existence is kind of a paradox, isn't it? Everything was made by something, yes? Either way, it is impossible. :o
Good night
fantastic
hmm, I might watch this because it has been years since I followed Cloud through his angsty anime journey. :3 hmm let's see HOLY SHIT

Their later songs only got more stereotypically indie rock.
