How are you doing that?
Well before when I sat on it the two sides would start to pull apart and the mattress would shift and it was annoying, so I put some zip ties on it to hold it together. They're not holding my weight or anything, they're just keeping bits from shifting.
The good news: I finally got MythTV working again.
The bad news: I'm still fucked.
The ugly news: Maybe a third of the non-premium channels are free and clear. The rest are all 5C encrypted, and 5C seems to be even more secret than FORTEZZA/Clipper used to be. :P If anyone does know how to break it, they're not telling because practically every tech company in California and Tokyo Prefecture will sue them over it. :P
So, basically, I have to spend another $200 on equipment (namely a Hauppauge HD-PVR) to be able to use MythTV. I'm very tempted at this point to just say "fuck it" and get a TiVo. :(
Either way, I've been working on this shit all night (again), and I need to get to bed.

...You know what's annoying? Pretty much any phone you pick up these days has a backlit keyboard--well, provided it has a physical keyboard, at least--but laptops pretty much never have backlit keyboards.
I mean, yeah, I can touch type and all, but when I need to use the Windows key or F5 or something, I'd like to see what I'm pressing!

It looks like the HD-PVR wins. It also means that, if I can get all this to work, I can send the rather clunky, underpowered, DRMed-out-the-asshole DVR from Verizon back.
And really, I can see why people torrent shit now. Trying to do it on the up and up is a major pain in the ass unless you have money, lots of money, for physical DVDs.
Huge red-on-black text only scratches the surface of how much that pisses me off, by the way. If I had my way, it'd be full-screen, animated, and blasting noise metal in the background. Go fuck yourselves, TiVo, seriously. :P

If we ever go to self-hosting I'm totally editing the CSS so huge text doesn't do that annoying overlapping thing.
Vanilla included a WYSIWYG editor that easily lets you create big text but set a fixed line-height in the default stylesheet. Idiots.
