The Stanley Parable isn't worth five cents, but this begs the question of why you would buy a game you don't think you're going to like in the first place.

that seems a little harsh
it's not a huge game and not a lot happens, but a lot of work clearly went into it

obviously I'm speaking only from my own perspective but when I played the free version I found it a really empty experience. Seemed mostly concerned with making itself look clever.
Of course my opinion is in the minority by far, so, whatever.

it does have that feel to it, yes
i think it's legitimately witty, but like a lot of metafiction of its kind it relies on drawing your attention to elements that you normally take for granted, which i've noticed some people find entertaining and other people find tiresome and condescending
i'm leaning towards the latter camp in this instance, but i can still appreciate the visible effort that went into making the game
That is really cool. I'd like to give some grand strategy games a try but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. They're pretty dense and difficult to get in to from what I've heard.

CK2 is one of the more accessible, but something more obtuse like EU4 (it's sorta-sequel) is a real brain-wracker.
but yeah, Elder Kings is a neat mod so far. It's still in beta though so some stuff isn't finished (there's only one bookmark, contrast over a half dozen in the vanilla game, and some of the descriptions of religions etc. are just "religion_DESC"). Lots of neat events so far though, for example the immortal God-King ruling one of the south islands died and his realm gets automatically fractured and several new religions spring up. I'm not familiar enough with the Elder Scrolls-verse to know what that's a reference to, but it's cool.
also the placeholder sprite for prepubescent Khajit characters is just really good

for example, I consider Tower of Heaven to be a pretty good game
and even Potatoman Seeks the Troof
also Squid Girl is freakin' awesome
I'd need like maybe three or four people to feel comfortable setting it up
