I want to make a fighting game character whose schtick is that s/he's pretty. Not like Vega/Balrog pretty, but unnaturally pretty. So attractive that s/he can enrapture anyone in her/his seductive stare. Oh, and s/he's androgynous, so it works against all sexualities.
And s/he fights by using her charm to distract opponents. And her ultra move is to grab the opponent, look deep into their eyes with intense longing, and then throw them away, saying "no, too ugly."
The physical damage's paltry, but the emotional damage's half a health bar!

It is interesting to see how some people approach the Touhou games (which are among the few that can accommodate noobs such as myself ~17 months ago); it is indicative of the norms of modern gaming.
1) Player approaches the game without knowing the controls or basic mechanics. Player expects there to be a tutorial. Player does not bother to check for an in-game manual or perhaps Google. Player causes much unnecessary grief for their self because they don't know how to play the game. 2) Player tries to play the game and is killed many times. Player is, in reality, not even really trying or paying attention, because they are used to cakewalks and cut-scenes instead of challenge. 3) Player becomes frustrated. Player does not understand why they suck. Player says easy mode is too hard and that the game is only for elitist snobs. 4) The best genre ever slowly dies over the decades from lack of interest.
as for the androgyny thing, I thought that would be obvious enough. Androgynous typically denotes a lack of womanboobies, thereby ensuring that it won't work on me

"bored" is "I've been sitting in this chair alone in a nearly empty room for the last four hours with nothing to occupy my attention and my video game simulator in my brain is getting tired and I can't leave because I am legally obligated to be in school and I have no rights because I am not 18 yet and and no one wants me in their classroom because I am burdensome obligation no one wants to touch"

Miko isn't bitching about that though; it is just an example. Miko has, many times, sat for hours at a time with nothing to do, as the circumstances dictate.

Shmups are a very, very hard genre to innovate in. That is the main reason they are dying, not the fault of some kind of attention span atrophy that has occurred over the generations.
It doesn't help that the shmups that come out nowadays (Really Really Big Sky is an example that comes to mind) get shit-talked for being too easy because they dare to have a slightly lower percent chance to kill you than 100.
Not to mention genres like that don't so much die as transmute into other things. There aren't many pure shmups any more but there are a hell of a lot of bullet hell-y arena shooters, which are a descendent thereof.
Finally, lists like this and unilateral declarations of X genre being the best ever are why the perception mentioned in point 3 exists.

squiddles once expressed a desire to become a real life futanari. what a weirdo that poster was. i hope that they will live that dream, if only for a while
If I am recalling the one picture you posted many moons ago correctly this is a not inaccurate statement.
Spelunky is hard and it's harder when you're killing shopkeepers but it must be done because it's the next great skill ceiling in the game I have to break.

some people are specifically attracted to especially masculine, rugged men, for instance
they wouldn't find an androgynous person attractive, no matter how pretty

when i was a kid the manual was always the first thing i consulted

they save paper, save packaging, and you can consult them if you want
and i don't think it's snobby to prefer hardcore gaming, to be honest
you're not disparaging people for playing games you don't like

The graphics are not as bright though. Which is a matter of personal preference but I prefer Torchlight's graphics.
i should be working and i'm thinking about the stupid stanley parable
I am just, I dunno, being argumentative for its own sake.
I need to keep myself awake, mostly.

that is why you have crops!
I will grant you your wish. May it aid you in bringing light
to this world of darkness.~
