the joke is that tumblr does nothing but listen to shitty pop punk and also mariana and the diamonds
I don't think many people on tumblr actually listen to pop punk, I think it's more of an in-joke.
Though, I've never found anything wrong really with Fallout Boy, but I also don't listen to their albums.
Fall Out Boy is one of the few bands I can say truly cannot stand their style of music.
it's guitar pop with louder singing?
It mainly the lead singers voice that annoys me, but something about the band and a lot of their contemporaries just annoy me to no end. I'm really not sure what it is, just that every time I hear them, I want to sucker punch Pete Wentz.
Wolf Fifth was a modernist music blog, featuring out of print and orphaned classics. Like so many great blogs, they fell victim to the cloud locker wars. Fortunately, UbuWeb's pal Justin Lacko downloaded the entire archive before they went down and donated the collection to UbuWeb. As you can see by the list below, there's a ton of stuff, and it's going to take quite some time to get this all sorted and posted on Ubu. So stay tuned. We're working on it.

at worst I don't mind his voice and at best it's the most memorable feature of their songs for me. Of course I guess "memorable" cuts multiple ways.
Surely you must mean Patrick Stump. Pete Wentz is the bassist.
Wentz does write the lyrics, though. So there's that.
Yeah, I know. I hate Patrick Stump's voice, but other than that, I find him pretty tolerable in all other aspects. Something about Pete Wentz is just very punchable to me.
Aren't FOB related to Panic At The Disco as well? I don't recall hearing any FOB songs, but PATD's first big single turned me off of them forever.
they have a similar sound but I find PATD much less tolerable.
Yeah, pretty much. Panic at the Disco got popular roughly around the same time as Fall Out Boy. PATD and Hawthrone Heights are the only bands in that whole power-pop/emo-pop genre that was popular did from around 2005/2006-2009ish that I dislike more than FOB.
Though apparently PATD changed their sound and ditched the emo-pop sounds for a more Baroque Pop influenced sound on their later albums, but I have absolutely no interest to even give their later stuff a spin, given how off-putting their early music was.
also, Travis McCoy (yet another act on Pete's label) dated Katy Perry for a bit, but they broke up and then she wrote "Part of Me" about the whole ordeal
I haven't heard it. One of my friends says one of the more popular songs on it is catchy as hell but is also extremely biphobic if interpreted a certain way, so make of that what you will.
Speaking of modern classical music, I really need to listen to more Luigi Nono. I've only heard a few of his works, but I can easily say it was some of the most impressive music I've ever heard.

Man I haven't thought about The Gym Class Heroes in a long time :I
I find FOB much more likeable though. Brendon Urie just seems like he's faking the funk.
Noticing a trend?
Granted not a particularly great one, especially not during the period after As Cruel As Schoolyard Children or whatever that album was called.

then they got rid of it
protip; if you begin your career as a white rapper, don't go the Kanye West route, get a stage name.
idk i should probably abandon any pretentions of being even slightly discerning
a good thing
how is the album?
that does not sound especially appealing
(that's 99 Spirits + 99 Levels to Hell + 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall)
(that's War of the Human Tanks + 99 Spirits + 100% Orange Juice, three games localized by the same company)
moxaquion
Ah well
