man i am pretty sure that i have like never used a camera

You're not missing much, to be honest

It's just like taking a digital photo except you're limited to 24 pictures or so instead of the hundreds that fit on a cheap SD card and you have to go to the drugstore and pay for processing if you actually want to view any of them

...man, I think I killed my own bout of nostalgia there

I say "drugstore"; for a while you could get it done at any big chain store. Kroger, Target, Wal-Mart...
  • Laws or rulings implementing features of stand your ground have a long history within the United States.[citation needed] Many state legal systems began by importing English common law such as Acts of Parliament of 2 Ed. III (Statute of Northampton), and 5 Rich. II of 1381 (Forcible Entry Act 1381)–which imposed criminal sanctions intending to discourage the resort to self-help.[42][43][44] This required a threatened party to retreat, whenever property was "involved" and resolve the issue by civil means.
Later, some local districts in the US reverted to some ancient common law doctrine (pre-thirteenth century) which had primitively entitled one to use force, as the new "American way." In 1877 Indiana, a court stated in Runyon v. State: "The tendency of the American mind seems to be very strongly against the enforcement of any rule which requires a person to flee when assailed, to avoid chastisement or even to save a human life . . . [Therefore,] [t]he weight of modern authority . . establishes the doctrine that when a person, being without fault and in a place where he has a right to be, is violently assaulted, he may, without retreating, repel force by force, and if, in reasonable exercise of his right of self-defence, his assailant is killed, he is justifiable."[45]
This primitive legal reversion reflected the savage conflicts to which settlers subjected themselves on frontier territories; socio-environmental concerns by which 18th century England had long settled and advanced beyond. As such, stand-your-ground was a tool culturally reborn by manifest destiny which provided a legal means and justification for westward expanding settlers to prevent displaced Native Americans from regaining lost territory. The power vacuum that resulted during the American Indian Wars and Mexican Cession led to the innovation of the claim club and placed vigilantism as the legal apparatus to deal with land-related quarrels of any size as well as claims to resources. The US Supreme Court put an end to this practice in 1870 with Baker v. Morton.

My bank sent me a letter offering me $125 if I open a new savings account with them and deposit $10,000 within  ten days.

Is that an offer many people would actually be able to take up on? Are there a lot of people who just have $10,000 laying around to dump towards whatever bank offers you money?

So, apparently the creators behind Darkout, a Terraria-esque game, decided that the best release date would be... December 4th.The same day the beta for the incredibly highly anticipated Terraria-like Starbound comes out. Oops.

Starbound is going to swamp it since Starbound has some of the staff from Terraria on it and is, by accounts actually, like, good.

Of course, given its current record, Starbound should be out of beta in around 2023.

unless you'd prefer "Lady Lazuli", the Crown isn't picky

Also I'll probably think of a better one later, my imagination is blanking on ostentatious titles right now

They are called Earwigs because they eat ears of corn.

I have to have one, right? I can't be expected to run a country without a proper office!

oh wow the Zelda series canonically has three different alternate universes. Even Mega Man only had two.
  • He died in his house of dropsy
and heart problems on 24 October 1802. His will ordered that his
funeral should take place "with the least possible pomp". He left
110,000 ducats to the Manin Foundation for the benefit of the cities lunatics, orphans, and girls from poor families needing a dowry. His remains were interred in the chapel of the Church of the Scalzi in Venice near the present railway station of Venice Saint Lucia in the family tomb of Manin where his late wife already lay. The tomb slab survives and bears the simple inscription Manini Cineres ("ashes of Manin").

...Scans look better with the built-in Windows 8.1 Scan app than they did with the actual Epson Scan app that came with the scanner.

I suspect this is because Windows 8.1's Scan doesn't try to over-correct colors and stuff like Epson's app does.

Its interface is quite nice and simple too...aside from the one fatal flaw (being a Metro app).
