When I said earlier that I didn't want to buy a DVD player, I didn't mean that my family lacked a DVD player. We have a portable one that skips, freezes, repeats in loops randomly, and scratches CDs. It's the La Computadora of DVD players, if LA Computadora permanently ruined CDs and had bad audio. It used to work perfectly, but now its gunked up. So, of course, it's mine because nobody else in my family will use it. We'd throw it away, but it makes a good bookend and seat-raiser.
Yeah, maybe we shouldn't have left it on for those weeks we went on vacation, and maybe we should have put actual effort into maintaining it.
So, we mostly use my Mom's DVD player, the noisy one with a missing remote and works perfectly as long as you are willing to plug everything in. I watched Spirited Away on that. Once we're done watching the movie/episodes, we put that DVD player back in the closet. Mom won't let this one be abused like the other one, so we use it sparingly.
Our video player is an old Sanyo that has always worked splendidly. That is why I asked for 101 Dalmatians video instead of DVD, and I only get two computer hours a day so Computer watching is right out. It's not on Netflix, so video is my only hope.
I swear, it's as though they make this stuff to break after a couple of years. EDIT: WAIT, NOVEMBER IS ENDING? BUT I HAVE STUFF I NEED TO GET DONE BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR.
suffered an abusive childhood because of her alcoholic father
in trinidad and tobago
who once tried to kill her mother and burn down their house
worked 15 service jobs before releasing her first mix tape
didn’t get shit from record companies until her third mix tape
makes music that constantly challenges long held ideas
raps about ‘opulence’ because she deserves it and worked for what she had
drake
was raised by a single mother
speaks often about how difficult that life was and that his family was often poor
raps about money and getting rich because he never had any even when he was on degrassi (which apparently they paid him fuck all for) and the money going to his family
lorde
grew up in a stable household
put her EP on soundcloud at 16
had record companies fighting to get her because a 16 year old white girl is marketable to them
disses drake and nicki minaj for rapping about opulence and considers them ‘irrelevant’
oh wow go lorde you’re so great oh wow
Yes, because the only metric with which we should judge musicians is by their privilege, oh, and totally attack her for saying stupid stuff because no other teenagers do that.
Drake is an emotionally stunted manchild who grew up in a middle class household and has repeatedly lied about his career, there is nothing admirable about him whatsoever.
People have a tendency to defend him out of fear of being seen as a hipster but he's a douche and most of his music is mediocre. The stuff that isn't is of the quality it is because of collaborators (see eg. the remix of "Wildfire" by Sbtrkt).

Don't you mean money leechers
it's about bird calls
it just happens to be the first day of advent in both our time zones
the final month of 2013
