THIS MEANS HULK IMMUNE TO CRITICISM BECAUSE OF CERTAIN PARTS NOT MEANT BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY AND WHY CRITIC TAKING TIME TO ANALYZE A PURPLE-PANTSED GREEN MONSTER'S MOVIE REVIEW IN BROKEN GRAMMAR AND CRITIC STILL EXPECTS BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. HULK MAKE VALID POINTS ALMOST ALL TIMES; AND HULK OFTEN DEEP AND MEANINGFUL BUT HULK'S HULKNESS MEANS HULK NOT REQUIRED MAKE TOO MUCH SENSE OR BE EXPECTED TO MAINTAIN STANDARDS MOST PHILISOPHICAL STORY-ANALYSTS SEEM TO BE HELD TO. IF HULK WROTE IN this manner, it would, in all likelihood, end up a rather obscure (if thoughtful, erudite, and sometimes perceptive) movie critic among the vast reviewing hordes of the internet.
I vastly prefer FILM CRITIC HULK to other reviews where the reviewer has a persona/character to act as and the messenger is a significant part of the message (Nostalgia Critic and the rest of TGWTG and all that ilk).
When reviewers try to become memorable characters in their own right; it often takes away from the focus on the actual book or movie reviewed. It becomes less about the book/movie itself and more about the reviewer.
I usually don't like it when reviews try to become entertainment in their own right. I want an accurate indicator of quality to indicate the how-much-Aliroz-might-like-this of a movie/book without telling me the story or much, if anything about the content of the movie/book.
When I recommend people books, I usually don't say what it's about. It's sometimes best to just pick up the book, not look at the cover, author, title, or introduction/blurb/back-of-book and start with the first sentence without knowing anything about it. That's why I hate movie trailers that ruin any element of surprise.
When you start with a book, you should start with a clean slate, a completely open and blank mind; not having made up your mind that you're going to like this book or that you're not going to like this book. That's why I don't tell you guys much of anything about The King's Shadow other than the title and author, because it's so relatively obscure that you guys can start out with a clean slate, to like it or not as it suits you.
I don't want to recommend it in the way of "THIS IS A GOOD BOOK AND YOU SHOULD LIKE IT", I want to recommend it as a book to read (and the fact that I absolutely adore the book has nothing to do with anything).

so ummmmm I was playing Touhou 12: Undefined Fantastic Object on Hard. There are simply no words for how sadistic and frustrating this is. I have yet to even reach the final stage. I've memorized much of the game but like, every little thing in this game conspires to kill you. The lasers are designed to mislead you so you ram right into them. Bullets are hidden under bullets in such tight patterns that you literally can only see your hitbox. The UFO tokens seem designed to only turn red (red as in "extra lives") when they are in the middle of impossibly labyrinthine and fast clusterfucks of bullets. And so help me god, in no other game will I die *three times* to the same attack, in the same 15-second interval (for those wondering, the attack was the opener for Ichirin's boss fight). UFO on Normal is really hard. UFO on Hard is (I am saying this as someone who has beaten it) *worse than Imperishable Night on Lunatic.*

In fairness this is the hardest Touhou game and the series gets a little easier after it, probably because otherwise it would scare off potential new fans.
