by new age do you mean like stuff designed for meditation or like enya or what
Instrumental small-label stuff. Apparently it was a decent sized scene back in the seventies, I heard about it from a Pitchfork review for an album I ended up not listening to.
also naney do you like John Talabot? I've gotten into him lately and want to find more of that sort of House/Psychadelia stuff he does, but he's only got one album (and a DJ Kicks series that I can't find a download of).
also to underscore how little my stepfather has gotten to know me in the 9 years he lived with us, he was absolutely shocked to find (Ghostface Killah's) The Pretty Toney Album in my room. Like legit shocked. He made fun of me for it for like a week.

man i cannot quite put my finger on exactly what i tend to dislike about the sorts of electronic and rock music pitchfork seems to approve of the most, i mean lots of it sounds ok, sometimes it's even good but it's just like

tepid
I actually agree with their opinions on that far more than I do their opinions on rap music. Of course I listen to less so maybe that is why.
Though they were justifiably negative with the most two recent reviews on there I read (of Eminem's Marshall Mathers LP2 and Mellowhigh's self-titled).
idk anything about hip-hop coverage in pitchfork really, hence my not commenting on it
their rap reviews tend to be....overly enthusiastic. Such as when they fellated that one dude whose video I posted where it was a really generic brag rap over a beat that the best thing I could say about it was that it was unconventional.
Really seems to be a problem a lot of sites that review rap albums have. Potholes In My Blog is way worse about it (how are you going to give a Wale album anything north of a 2/10?).
also taking out of context quotes from other rappers to praise Chief Keef and herald him as the future of rap music even though his star has already burned out less than a year after his only hit.

how are you, naney
bad jokes aside I'm alright.
I am listening to new age music because at some point I turned into my grandmother I guess.
yay
It's mostly bad rock from the early and mid 2000s. Fuel, Nickelback, that band that's Area with a number but it's not Area 51. You know, staples.
Also a Backstreet Boys CD he tried to tell me was my mom's.
