It was kind of a zombie thread, then they found some really crazy guy who had wrote down every idea and experience he'd had ever, then there was the Jesu Otakupocalypse.
Anyway, they had a long break when Eggplant Wizard banned mockthreads.
It's getting kind of boring again honestly. Just going through the TvT Firefly page or noting that it's a bit pedantic to point out that reloading doesn't work the way it does in FPSes is not exactly comedy gold.
Okay, so there's this site called TGWTG Confessions, which for whatever reason, posts shit about internet critic's personal lives online. This gets filtered down to the TvT page. So Jesu Otaku, an internet anime reviewer who posts on SA sometimes, got tired of cleaning up stupid rumors and tried to get the page removed by dissing TvT on twitter. New Media reacted about the way you'd expect.
Funniest moment was when Jack Mackerel from TvTropes came in to complain about JO without knowing that the SA thread was behind her 110%.

Also, I don't see why people hate pedantry so much. Sometimes it is very useful to know just how serious or how detachedly we should approach something.

my attitude towards command structures is pretty inconsistent
on an ethical level i'm more-or-less an anarchist; i don't believe anyone should be treated as superior to anybody else and i detest elitism and abuses of power
otoh, something about hierarchical command structures appeals to me; i like reading about different ranks, i like seeing them in fiction, and i like inventing my own imaginary ones

Well, see, TVT exhibits a lot of stupid behavior, and some administrative methods are of questionable quality, but at least I wouldn't feel as annoyed hanging out with people at TVT.
Also TVT doesn't cost me ten bucks to hang out there. Alternatively, a personal perception of social superiority is not worth ten bucks to me.
