Why aren't Celestia and Luna called Sun and Moon?

Why should the latin be more mystical and magical than the Engli-oh wait, English isn't all that "mythical, magical or mystical" a language.

They could have gone with the old English Sunna or Woroldcandel or Wyncandel for Celestia and gone with móna for Luna.  Because "world-candle" is an awesome name.

Or best yet, they could have gone for Mane for Luna, Mane is Middle Dutch for Moon.

Darkstalkers is a pretty good game

It also has a guy that attacks by cutting his own head off and splashing the opponent with the blood

And another guy has an attack that turns the opponent into a cute girl (or if it's already a girl it turns her into a cuter girl), and the he grabs her, squeezes the blood out of her until she explodes and goes back to her original form

    ^x2 Same.

I would like to try it out at some point though.

i have seen very little Buffy

Same here, though I liked what I did see.

I worry it hasn't aged very well, though.

Also I have a tape (soon to be Anonus's) containing the original airings of the final four episodes of Buffy, recorded from WWHO in Columbus

    You needed to know this
  • it has aged fine for the most part i think
  • i can't imagine it wouldn't

Dollhouse has stayed good, although it is newer

For that matter, Equestria is based on the latin name for Horse.

Why is MLP and Harry Potter so pro-latin?

Can't old Dutch or old English or germanic or Celtic tounges be mythical, mystical, and magical?
  • More people have said that and been killed than there are thorium decay products.

    I don't like Whedon's dialogue.

Realistic diction is not something that I like in my fiction.

Some realistic aspects are not good in fiction.

Like, for example, if you had every character spend eight hours sleeping per 24 hours; and thus spent one third of the pages on describing people sleeping, turning over, breathing, and so on; that would be lame.  Same if you kept having characters need to go to the bathroom, and every single time you describe the whole way to the bathroom and everything, every dang time.  OR if you had to tell each time that a character blinked or breathed.

Most of the complaints i've seen have concerned his dialogue sounding stilted and unrealistic, actually.

When you say realistic diction i think more of Harold Pinter.

What dialogue do you like, out of curiosity?

yeah, it definitely ain't natural sounding

    kinda like tarantino actually

though i like tarantino's more definitely
  • Tarantino and Whedon's writing both have a surrealist regular-dialogue-except-not-really kind of thing going on

Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

people talk loud outside of your window a lot and try to bum cigarettes off you and also you sometimes have to tall the police because someone wraps their car around a tree, and in the summer there are block parties with much loud car music going on

though that can depend on the character of the tenants in the revolving door house across the street...
  • You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022

the revolving door house across the street

You have one of those too, eh?

(Ok, ours is next door and not across the street, but still)
  • Trick-or-Treaters were a rarity in our place.

My family doesn't celebrate the holiday (though we all take advantage of it to stock up on candy). So we'd just turn off the lights at the front of the house and pretend we weren't there.

People would still knock though. Persistent, they were.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
back home the trick or treaters are pretty persistent

we made the mistake of going on holiday one year; when we came back they'd egged our house

by that point it had dried for so long that we couldn't get the stains off
  • kill living beings
    do people drink mcdonalds coffee

mcdonalds is giving away free coffee here

  • apparently Burger King had pretty decent coffee a while back
