Kexrcuct: I find that I basically agree with with PMRants on Smosh, so I'll just say that I find them pretty annoying but overall rather innocent. I think bothering to comment on how Michael Buckley presents himself (which admittedly, is more of a boring comment on his voice, and is understandable) is rather pointless, but otherwise I agree with the misleading thumbnails and the like, though they're obviously not exclusive to him. It's an obnoxious trend that needs to stop in general. As for "Boob-Tubers," well the idea bothers me in general, and I'm mostly agreeing with PMRants on this too, except for the "unfair marketing" part. I'd call it lazy and obnoxious, but not unfair, but I don't really want to get into that since my opinion on most of these things can be summed up as "This is a gross subject." Brittany Louise Taylor is all that I dislike about Youtube, moving on. Unboxing is boring but not really that up there, and unless it's an even more popular trend than I think it is, which apparently, it is. Sure it's lazy, but I wouldn't rank it worse than Onision. I understand the HATE HATE HATE for Tobuscus insofar as I understand HATE HATE HATING various Internet personalities, but don't personally find him to be that annoying. Most things that he does — telling to like/favorite/subscribe, asking for pointless comments for traffic, being creatively boring — aren't exclusive to him, as is the Let's Playing aspect which I actually don't mind at all. There are some decent Let's Players out there, and the concept doesn't bug me, especially since for a long time I still can't actually play most games that I would like to. Gaining profit from someone else's work is a different subject entirely, and don't feel like elaborating on in this post either. Maybe later, but I'm just briefing through this video. Again, I wouldn't rank him below Onision. Number one doesn't bother me too, and I would also place above Onision, even though they're total meme-bait thirteen-year-old nonsense. The "video-makers" also overlap with some of these others, but whatever. Good video overall.

I just found his general demeanor obnoxious and pretentious. Not necessarily disagreeing with all he said, although I will say that people don't give Smosh enough credit for continuing to do reasonably creative videos every week for years.
I agree on him sounding obnoxious and pretentious, Kexruct, and on Smosh being puerile but consistently good, in a sense. I just heavily disagree with his list, but I'm fairly biased. Haven't watched Smosh for some time, don't intend to.

Not to me, Tachyon. I mean, I see your point: Even in presentation, whether it's just for simplicity's sake or not, just referring to Carlin and Hitchens is pretty lazy, especially since he did little more than name drop them. So while the references come off as lazy argumentation and make the dude seem like he's not putting that much effort into the argument of these videos (which might be the case, since it is just a rant channel), I also don't see anything inherently wrong with going for the lowest common denominator references and tactics, if that's your target audience. I'm obviously excluding discriminatory tactics in this, but yeah.
