PLOT TWiST: The next poster was French all along and has been hiding it from us the entire time. Yeah.
Seriously, it was hard not to cry at the end. And on top of that, the game mentioned was one of my favorites when I was younger (and was able to get to someone's house that had an Atari).

Procedurally generated Metroidvania in which you play a magical girl. Your mentor (a catlike creature of some sort probably, they always are) dies to the invading Shadow Creatures just after explaining how to use your transformation artifact--the Melody Heart. Gameplay involves fighting the Shadow Creatures while picking up various upgrades (drawn from a loot table depending on specifics) that are either active or passive (self-explanatory) and light or dark, taking the light items will eventually transform your Melody Heart into a Justice Heart, giving you increased defensive abilities and the ability to get the "Light" ending if you complete the game in this fashion, taking dark items will transform your Melody Heart into a Vengeance Heart and will grant you increased offensive capabilities, finishing the game in this state will net you the "Dark" ending.

Literally the introduction to "Bunny Must Die"
Points have been docked and they set sail.

it's been like
a year
at least.
also the only cat I remember in Bunny Must Die was the big one you fought
Metroidvania = Platformer with sprawling, singular worlds rather than neatly divided levels. Often with many enemies, multiple bosses, and a number of upgrades.
The genre name comes from both Metroid and Castlevania, so, yeah, you are correct, in a way.

Sherlock Holmes: Everybody's Favorite Cocaine Addict (I Assume)
The above photo, named The Kiss, was created by Witkin by literally sawing a severed head in half, and turning it back on itself to give the appearance of two men kissing. Arguably Witkin’s most controversial photo, this image highlights the intensity of how thought-provoking and disturbing his work can be.

A bean, a bean, and further beans.
Those were the ingredients chosen to create the perfect can of beans.
But Professor Beanhampton accidentally added an extra ingredient to the concoction: even more beans.
Thus, Beans were born!
Using their ultra-bean powers, Bean, Bean, and Again Bean have dedicated their lives to being beans and fighting the forces of lack of beans!
You know, we really should come up with better terms some of these days.
"Metroidvania"
"Rogue-like"
both of those are very old terms tho.
How old are these terms? because these couldn't have existed for what I consider "old" 60 years is just when you're getting into "Now I can consider you old" category, so unless they're 60+ years, they aren't "Old"
Which is to say cultures and societies like to present images(and many other kinds of things I'm sure) a certain way, and then inevitably it shocks people to learn otherwise.
Wow, another FPS! When will people learn that all FPS games are frickin' garbage? The game is too dark, the game is like Minecraft, the game is uncontrollable, and the urban setting is for frickin' fricks and has Goth punks. Deus Ex just gets a negative 30,000 out of 10, okay?

What's next, someone makes an alien movie about an advanced race of aliens that hunt humans and it's Predatorvania?
Or a book comes out about a super cool detective and it's a "Sherlock Holmes-Like"
