The last man on earth(I think?) lives in a huge house in the woods he inherited from his father. He begins hearing strange noises in his house at night, and finds the door open more than once. You play him going through his house, fixing lights and biding your time until the morning comes.
In short, a bit of Kafka's The Burrow, mixed with Beckett's Endgame and probably influenced by the shortest horror story "The last man on earth sat alone in a room. There was a knock at the door"
In mathematics and physics, in particular in the theory of the orthogonal groups (such as the rotation or the Lorentz groups), a spinor /ˈspɪnər/ is an element of a complex vector space. Unlike spatial vectors, spinors only transform "up to a sign" under the full orthogonal group. This means that a 360 degree rotation transforms the numeric coordinates of a spinor into their negatives, and so it takes a rotation of 720 degrees to re-obtain the original values. Spinors are objects associated to a vector space with a quadratic form (like Euclidean space with the standard metric or Minkowski space with the Lorentz metric), and are realized as elements of representation spaces of Clifford algebras. For a given quadratic form, several different spaces of spinors with extra properties may exist.
Charon leaned forward and rowed. All things were one with his weariness.
It was not with him a matter of years or of centuries, but of wide floods of time, and an old heaviness and a pain in the arms that had become for him part of the scheme that the gods had made and was of a piece with Eternity.
If the gods had even sent him a contrary wind it would have divided all time in his memory into two equal slabs.

I'm gonna leave soon myself but it would be nice to have at least some kind of chat before I go

Yay!
So when I was 13 my online high school used FirstClass for everything. At the time I'd been reading a lot of ToastyTech, so I put together a little PowerPoint presentation in which I attempted to imitate Nathan Lineback's style by showcasing a bunch of screenshots of FirstClass and describing how it works.
Why am I mentioning this? Because I found an old backup disc that just happened to have that PowerPoint file on it. This pleases me, even though the presentation itself is quite embarrassing to look at now, because I thought all the screenshots of my school's old FirstClass setup were gone...but I still have them!

Hee hee, I don't even know what that was about
I was just sittin' around being bored and I was like "you know, I wanna take a picture of one of my ponies and post it to Tumblr"

Also, that was back when I still wrote dates in MM/DD/YYYY format
Nowadays I try to avoid that as much as possible, in part because I dislike the ambiguity (though it hardly matters on a disc of my own) and partly because it doesn't make much sense to me (seems like you should go in order from smallest unit to largest or largest to smallest; putting the date in the middle is just weird).
Though I still use it when I write papers and stuff for other people, because it's what Americans expect to see.

I use ISO 8601 for a lot of things. It's especially useful for file and folder names because unlike the other formats, it will actually sort correctly given the simple alphabetical/numerical sorting of something like Windows Explorer. But it feels a little silly handwriting dates that way, somehow.
As someone who's used Windows 8 for a few months now, I can say that...once the initial shock wears off, it gets tolerable pretty fast. The desktop's still there, and that's where you're going to spend pretty much all your time, so once you get used to the Start menu being gone it's not that different from using 7...

It actually seems like this would be an OK thing to use for a DVD player..... except Microsoft removed the ability to play DVDs from Windows 8!
what
why
Ah, that. I'm guessing it's because Microsoft didn't want to pay the licensing fees for the codecs since so many new computers don't even include optical drives.
That said, it's not really as big a deal as it might seem, because (a) no competent manufacturer will ship a computer with a DVD drive without bundling DVD playback software (every computer I've owned in the past 10 years has come with PowerDVD), and (b) people who don't want to use the default software will install something like VLC anyway.

true
i dunno, i'm reading this and it really is making me feel uncomfortable
if there's one thing i hate more than changing stuff permanently, it's having change imposed on me by other people

I can understand that.
It frustrates me that the traditional sort of desktop setup seems to be becoming a thing of the past. The main reason I use Xfce, despite feeling its interface inferior to GNOME 2, is that it doesn't seem to be trying to reinvent the wheel the way GNOME 3 or Ubuntu's Unity are.

Well, I'm gonna get going. Talk to y'all later, I suppose.
