Have chosen to stay in my room and subsist for the rest of th enight on packaged stuff rather than go down to the only open food hall and take some food.
They changed the protocol for takeout this semester. You now have to lug an ugly green plastic container to the dining hall every time you want takeout. The containers are bigger now, which is an advantage, but carrying the thing around feels like wearing a neon sign blinking 'I'm getting takeout and bringing it to my room because I have no friends with which to eat with'.
Once, a girl complimented me for my sense of independence, saying that I didn't need any approval from others and that I did my own thing without worrying about what others think.
I always come back to that statement. It seems so far off from who I think I am, both at the time and right now.
I know he's OK at least, his sis is around on tumblr reblogging supernatural gif sets and hasn't messaged me at all or anything. I'm still lonesome tho

I'm going to die in a gutter somewhere because I'm not going to get a degree and god knows you can't get a job at fucking Saladworks anymore without a doctorate. So fuck me I guess.

Pacific Rim's a giant robot vs kaiju film that has no pretensions about what it is. It stars (albeit not in the protagonist role) Rinko Kikuchi, who's both adorable and a non-white woman, and Idris Elba, who was tumblr's favorite black guy at the time. As it had a female role that was not typecast or sexualized, along with a sizable number of non-white support characters, it was hailed by tumblr as the second coming.
Night Vale's an audio podcast available on the internet. It centers around a town in the Southwest that has weird stuff happening all the time. The narrator's in a homosexual relationship with a Latino scientist, there's a black intern named Dana somewhere and there's a character called the Apache Tracker, who's used to make fun of white people who appropriate artifacts from other cultures. Tumblr frigging loves that stuff, and that's the reason why everything slightly weird is stifled with the same phrase: 'and now, the weather'.
Night Vale has a slightly better argument for 'socially progressive masterpiece', in that the homosexual relationship is legitimately unusual. But said relationship has a tendency to overshadow the weird stuff that forms the core of the podcasts. As you know, Tumblr will take any opportunity to portray queer couples in their twenties wearing cool thrift-shop outfits.
As the saying goes, "you'll be lucky to find decent fanart under all the shipping art".
