You know, U.S. Route 666 used to be a real highway. It was a spur of the famous US 66, running through Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah.
US 666 was renumbered twice: in 1991, the Arizona portion became an extension of US 191, and in 2003, the rest of the highway became US 491. The changes were made in response to high rates of sign theft and—I shit you not—the belief that the highway was cursed (as the NM portion had an unusually high fatality rate).

You act like belief in curses is some weird thing
Sometimes I worry that believing in them gives them strength :/

Well, it's unusual (or at least uncommon) for legislative decisions to be made based on belief in curses, right?

One time during my internship last year I got to work and our office was locked.
Only then did I think to check my phone, to see that my supervisor had sent me a text telling me she would be in late and I'd have to let myself in with the spare key she hid in the break room.

So this is a thing now
After all those years of going out of my way to look at road work sites, they're finally bringing one to me! :P

As soon as I got in from photographing that "no parking" sign it started raining

Also, another one for the collection:
In the early 2000s the BMV tried switching from 3M reflective sheeting to cheapass Avery stuff, so a lot of these Bicentennial plates haven't aged well. :\
It does, mean, however, that I have a full run of expirations from 2007 to 2012 now! (Though the '08 and '11 stickers are on the same plate)

oh, i remember hearing that there were supposed to be hellhounds and phantom hitchhikers sighted around Route 666
Yep
Also, more trivia: Route 666's parent route, the famous Route 66, technically hasn't existed since 1985, when the designation was deleted from the highway system. But it still functionally exists, as it's shown on nearly all maps and the individual states have all posted signs for "Historic Route 66".

"It is a matter of grave importance that Fairy tales should be respected.... Whosoever alters them to suit his own opinions, whatever they are, is guilty, to our thinking, of an act of presumption, and appropriates to himself what does not belong to him." -- Charles Dickens

Well like I was looking for something in the garage and I found the reflector from an old bike so I brought it in and started playing with it with a flashlight
Seems like the kind of thing that a 3-year-old would be entertained by, and I haven't been a 3-year-old in a couple decades now

Cowboy hats are cool. I don't know how you'd pull off a fez without looking like you belong in a tiny car.
